Default insects in British Columbia

Can anyone tell me about insects etc in BC? I am scared stiff of spiders, and my husband of snakes ...... will we have anything to worry about when we move to Vancouver Island?

I'm such a scard y cat .....

Nothing to worry about at all. Spiders, insects & snakes are about as common as back in the UK.
No poisonous snakes on Vancouver Island (you only get rattlers in the interior of BC, where its much hotter and dryer).
There are some poisonous spiders but they're very rare.
