Kate, you could try something like 'Vanish' carpet cleaner - you spray it on the area to be treated (comes out a white foam), you leave for a few minutes (the instructions will say exactly how long) & then you blot with a clean white cloth - I use kitchen towel & it does work

I've used it & similar stuff on our cream carpet to remove dog & cat puke stains (& worse ) - we have the whole of downstairs which is open plan tiled - why oh why do they puke on the upstairs carpet

Let us know how you get on & hope you get the sucker

hi
not sure on the milk you could try baking soda and water that works good
or a bit of viniger with it if you use a glass bowel clean it out after as it might break if you leave it to long.

for the spider try chestnuts in a bowl on the counter or in the bathroom he will be gone and so will his buddies if he has any. hope this helps

Vanish Carpet cleaner is the way to go - have used it for perfect results on red wine stains a few times - I have an aunt who is an exuberant lush who has on more than one occasion emphasised a point with wild gesticulation while holding said red wine.
Good luck getting it cleaned.

Whatever you do - with Milk, do NOT use hot or warm water! Cold only.

A nice coat of varnish over the clean carpet might actually prevent further staining though....lol

Ohhhhhh dear! Any stain from anything produced by animals has protein in it. If you apply heat, it 'cooks' the protein and sets the stain! I think you may have to call the professionals, dear!

Slightly highjacking here, but does this rule apply to dog pee? My obsessive attempts at removing our new puppy's pee accidents do not seem to be working at all. It is driving me nuts! Any advice?

Yes, get a Bissell Spot Bot - they are the most wonderful invention, then get their pet stain remover.

http://www.bissell.com/Products/prod...uct_id=SpotBot

I fostered a lot of kittens who didn't always make it to the litter box and the Spot Bot was an absolute miracle. I wish I'd had it a few years earlier when the kids were smaller or when my special needs cat had bowel issues, it would have saved me loads of work.

For a quick clean up I just put it on the manual setting and use the hose to clean as it's really quick and easy, the only problem I have found with it is that it sometimes leaks out a bit of dirty water while you are cleaning so I always make sure I give that area a quick swipe or lately I've been putting a bag under the part that leaks. That's the only negative thing I have seen in any reviews of it and loads of people gave it good reviews on Amazon.com - it gets four and a half stars from 337 reviews which is pretty damn good.

Also, if you don't want to get a Spot Bot, you need a cleaner like Nature's Miracle http://www.eightinonepet.com/product...play=17&main=2 or Anti-icky-poo - http://www.antiickypoo.com/

You can probably get Nature's Miracle in a Petsmart or Petcetera, I've not looked for a stockist for Anti-icky-poo yet but a google search should find it for you. These cleaners are specially formulated to deal with organic stains.

You should also be able to buy a black light from Petsmart, you can use it to highlight any urine you have missed, and it will show you how good a job you have done at getting a stain out.
