He would be hounded and harassed out of office. But Ana Bailao is still going to run for office and says she is going to continue as a councillor. WTF

Oops should have put in Maple Leafy bit

I don't think so, I can't be alone in always having assumed him to be a bit pissed. Anyway, this has nothing to do with being a suitable Mayor.

tmw? I don't care what sort of arsehole's car he has. I don't think drink driving should affect a politicians career and, in has case, I don't think it would. People vote for him because he's a selfish redneck, they're not discouraged by it.

Hmm it's the rest as well, that I was thinking bout not just the DUI.

There was a conflict of interest as she was drinking while working, she was over the limit while meeting with a lottery/casino group.

She lied in Oct 2012 saying she was not guilty and would fight this charge and plead as such. Now she pleaded Guilty after she said she had a think bout it over Xmas.

Given how little you need to be over the limit here that could just be a couple of glasses of wine over lunch meeting.

According to the Star article you linked to in your OP she claims she wasn't working and business wasn't discussed. The second bit, (her coming clean about being over limit) is also explained. She got some bad advice from a lawyer and then fixed it after she thought about it. Maybe there will be more articles with genuine dirt in them but this is, so far, a simple case of driving over the legal limit. Rob Ford speaking up for her may or may not help her image, but I don't think it will influence a judge.

Well I see that Dinking and Driving has become fashionable again, like in the 70"s and 80"s, amongst BE community and backed up by councillors of this great country.

I will still abstain tho if I'm out near booze. Because even tho its fashionable again, I would still loose MY job if I was caught. :@(

I don't think drinking and driving has ever been out of fashion in Ontario. It's common enough for people to drink while operating their vehicles and drinking before operating the vehicle, say to get home from a bar or the curling rink, is usual. You don't have to do it, of course, no one's concerned whether you do or you don't.

I generally won't drive drunk though 2 or 3 beer won't stop me - I usually keep it to 1 or 2. I may have used all my luck up in the 70's and 80's and don't want to chance an accident or arrest. Planning a ride isn't hard, and even on a nasty day like today I can and will appeal to my friend to swing by the club when he gets off at 5 and pour me home. If he agrees and I work really hard then bundle up and walk 40 min that will give me 2 hrs of good social time.

The thing is, one or two is probably enough to put you over the limit. I'd not want to get stopped by the filth after two even though I don't think it's a big deal really.

I see. There are "administrative" limits in Alberta too.
