Ice Fishing
In no particular order.. gorgeous day for it and the fishing was good. We saw 5 or 6 deer on the way out.
I'm not sure how many here do it, but there are probably a few.

Re: Ice Fishing
Goodness that ice looks so thick. Is that quite near to you? I suppose it must be.
What do you catch? Trout?
What are the ladles for?

50 miles
Walleye, yellow perch, northern pike
Clearing ice out of the holes
I'm going to be making some pickled pike in the near future.
By the end of February the ice will be 3' thick.

Re: Ice Fishing
A pile of 4 lbs or a bit less yields this much pickled fish, ready in about 2 weeks.

Re: Ice Fishing
When I want to go fishing I go down to Hooters order a pint of Creemore and start swiping through tinder.
It's a much warmer and infinitely safer way to fish.

No, that's a Northern Pike of about 5 lbs.
That pic of Rick with his big walleye is from a few weeks ago, and 15 miles north.
