...to 2009.
I'm afraid of 2010.
I just have to figure out how to stop going forward in time.

Completely over my head, as usual: perhaps he's "independent" because no-one will give him a job. OTOH he might be a genius and your problem is solved.

There was a guy on Quirks and Quarks last weekend who described himself as an "independent british physicist". According to him, the simplest way of reconciling quantum physics with general relativity is to assume that the Universe is static, and therefore that "time" is a consequence of perception (a bit like colour is), rather than of physics.
Completely over my head, as usual: perhaps he's "independent" because no-one will give him a job. OTOH he might be a genius and your problem is solved.
