Congratulations

When I moved to Canada (Montreal) my first job was in a little coffee shop. I had worked for a Bank in Northern Ireland so it was a big change, but it was fun and I met lots of interesting people. The customers are going to love your accent

It should be fun. My second job was in a Bar

now that was an education!! At least the people in the coffee shop were sober (I think).

I know what a Denver is but what is a buffalo sammich?

Coffee shops are maybe the closet equivalent to UK pubs in terms of a place where locals gather to gab. Locals probably knew you got the job before you did.
