Looks like I escaped just in time ! It's sunny and calm here in Gallup, NM where I'm holed up for the night. Good luck to all those who are in the path of this juggernaut.

Why are you in Cobourg when it says Van on your thingy?

Just never got around to changing it after my move last month.

Its just windy here, off and on gusts, CTV says tomorrow is to be the worst wind wise, but nothing major.

Nothing exciting here but I've been told of trees down etc.

New York's had flooding, fires, explosions, coolant problems at a nuclear plant..... I've been reading the NY Times online and it looks like their precautions were good ideas. The subways and tunnels are mostly flooded.

I wouldn't bank on AX seeing his missus tonight.

I'm a little worried about friends I have in Long Island, CT and Mass.

None has been contactable since yesterday afternoon (and a few of us have been trying).

Very windy up here last night and this morning and supposedly getting worse. Whether or not I'm dues some serious unpleasantness, I don't know. No two projections seem to agree.

Just as well most of the leaves were already down. There would be a lot more trees in the street otherwise.

.

Her flight out of YOW isn't until late afternoon. Still shows scheduled at this moment in time. Crossing fingers as there will be a very disappointed 3yr old if she doesn't make it back in time for Halloween.

Hope you locate your friends in the US. I had a similar experience with a friend in NOLA during Katrina.

I think your missus will be OK. Things are improving rapidly. It's still windy but nothing to scare the animals. Even Porter is reinstating flights.

I've found one, so far.

How is the enroute weather? That could be an issue with flights going east. Hope she can make it home tonight.:)

Well, we lost power for five hours or so overnight - based on the time it went off and what my alarm clock said the time was this morning.

One of my friends wasn't so lucky, and a neighbour's tree destroyed their porch. Could have been worse, but overall my feeling is that this was a wee bit of an over-reaction, in the T. anyway.

Did she make it?

I've found two now. The one in CT is camping with friends who own a generator. The one in Long Island is still AWOL.

It all seemed to fizzle out here yesterday. The wind has mostly gone by lunchtime, the sun came out and it was 20 degrees!

My BIL in Quebec seems to have had a narrow escape. His house is in 10 acres of forest. One of his kids woke up in the middle of the night on Monday and discovered that the forest was on fire. It later transpired that the high winds had brought down a power line. It was a 911 job.

Yeah. Delay for 3 hrs or more at YYZ and didn't get home til 4.00am but she made it, that's the main thing. As I left the house this morning pumpkin carving was in progress.

Fingers crossed you locate the person in Long Island.

The news just showed the collapsed roller-coaster in Seaside NJ, it's emotional.

You are the winner of the legitimate use of "roller-coaster" competition. Please proceed to Iqaluit to collect your prize.
