We are celebrating our little boy's 5th birthday today and i can't get my head around it! Where have 5 years gone???!!!!

I joined this forum over a year ago and we originally decided to move to Canada 2 years ago!

I want the next 2 years, whilst we wait for my OH to get his experience, to fly by so we can apply and get over to Canada but at the same time i don't want it to as that will mean the my "baby" boy will be 7!!!

I know what you mean. My 10-year Canniversary is coming up in a few days. Arrival is still very fresh in my memory. It's hard to believe that I've been here for more than a fifth of my life.

Yes, it does fly. I've been here over 41 years, from your part of the world, and very often wonder where all the time went. Funny how you remember some of the smallest details of years long gone by but can't remember what you had for lunch !

wait til your son gets to his 18th birthday ... wondering where the time went hits you harder!

Don't even go there. I clearly remember my niece being born. I'm now a great-uncle.

Ah, so so true!! My daughter is turning six in a few months!! The ''time slipping through my fingers'' is almost tangible... I usually start crying my eyes out within the first seconds of this song! Happy Birthday to your little one!

My eldest son has just had his 7th birthday. He was 18 months when we landed in Canada on new years day 2005. We stayed at my wife's aunts house on our first night in Canada, and we bathed our son in her kitchen sink. We still have the photo. It's funny to look at him now and see how much he's grown compared to our first night here. He's also got such a Canadian accent. I often try to imagine how different he would sound if we had stayed in England. Then there is our second son who is 100% made in Canada. He wasn't even a twinkle in our eyes when we first arrived. He's 4 now.

Raising two energetic little boys can be such hard work, but I know one day we will look back and wonder where the time went. It helps to remind me to make the most of the time we have now. We are taking them to Disney World in a week and a half, and we can't wait.
