So how far have we explored? Not far I say. We have probably travelled the equivalent of a ant walking around its nest if we say that the world is the solar system. Then we have the universe, we can only dream of exploring any part of that. Then we have the cosmos, space and infinity and they say in that goofy video we are the only ones?

I very much dobt that

Well, some good words from Carl Sagan.

The pale blue dot photograph continues to amaze me.

Looking forward to seeing Pluto later this year.

Watch it again. He doesn't say we are the only ones. He says we are the only ones, for now, and we certainly are. And why is the video goofy?

We may be the only ones in this universe. It is a possibility.

Or not, who knows

But if we are here and God did not make us from bits of space jumble then the odds are there are more like us but them too will have most likely only traveled a few km from their home planet

Indeed. Our cosmic cousins could also be trapped on their own lonely planets or lonely galaxies separated by billions of years. Paradoxically, this makes us "significant" despite the immensity of space and time. This, I think, was Carl's message in that clip.

Oh well, if you're a God believer then ergo, you're a fantasist.

Ok yeh makes sense put like that. Personally I believe there must be another planet some where similar to earth but we may never know about it. The odds are in favour of it being so given that space is some what infinite

Humans are a species who sit around destroying the planet/each other, and also feel sorry for ourselves imo I would hope there is more enlightened life

Unfortunately there is some truth in that. Ecologically, we humans are effectively a cancer on this planet.

We are significant only to ourselves

Out side of ourselves and in the context of the whole universe, we are insignificant

If the planet's life was wiped out, it would not be noticed !

Yes. Unless, of course, our universe is just someone's Petri dish.
