I would tend to agree, and ultrarunner has put on an admirable defense, in spite
of the piling on going on in this thread.I always thought Brits were more polite than this though, can't offend anyone you know.
But I guess every once in a while you lot play with the gloves off.

Of course bruv', this is how I roll and I don't expect everyone to be able to see this because of their own alterior motives. You are right, what is the point of getting knickers/boxers in a twist...as the saying goes, "opinions are like ******, everybody has one"

He was a good seller of snake oil. Even his detractors have to marvel at his chutzpah, to destroy Iraq through an illegal war, and then become Middle East Peace Envoy. Remarkable man.

"Good Lord UR you really are quite foul .. When you initially appeared I defended you to some people that thought you were out of order. How wrong I was."
There's no list, no issue of Oxford commas. I suppose one might find fault with the two dots but this is an informal medium and I think they serve to emphasize the writer's regret at initially taking pity on the fool under discussion only to discover that her immediate repulsion was, in fact, justified. Where would you put a comma, if anywhere?

Thank you, but I don't see it. The text of post 106 runs:
"Good Lord UR you really are quite foul .. When you initially appeared I defended you to some people that thought you were out of order. How wrong I was."

after the word 'appeared', although it is not critical
