Default House Insurance - Sonnet/Economical

I was watching the footie earlier and there was an ad on TV for Sonnet Insurance (online version of Economical). In this case TV advertising worked because I checked out the website.

I currently pay about $95 for the house. No car. Contents coverage seems a bit high. I remember back in the UK that CIS Insurance offered the lowest minimum contents and that was still higher than what I'd have paid to replace everything and it may be similar issue here.

Anyway, I did the online quote thing - which really was genuinely online...no call backs, no emailed quotes where you'll be bombarded for the rest of your life etc.

Three quotes came up. $52 for "the essentials"; $62 "the preferred"; $70 "the ultimate".

The first looked good enough and the second even better. I will do more of a comparison later.

But I wondered if anyone had any experience of them. I've read some reviews but they all seem auto related.

It looks like quite a saving but that's obviously no good if they don't pay up.

I'm with State Farm now, with one claim for roof damage at the duplex I used to own. They weren't very good at getting back to me and initially tried to claim already existing damage before the storm. That was nonsense and standing my ground put an end to that. They paid up and I didn't mind accepting their recommended contractor and they were pretty poor too.

Economical (and their, ahem, "specialist" arm which is called Pilot) have been very good in dealing with my various auto claims. I would expect the same in the case of a property or liability claim. Are your numbers per month or per week?

Blimey...various auto claims? How many is normal? I have no clue never having been a driver.

Monthly amounts.

Some reviews suggest a few problems but, of course, negative reviews are more likely than positive ones.
