Default Hot Dogs

I quite like the occasionaly hot dog but the ones in Canada are pretty rubbish. I've tried a quite a few brands but always seem to go back to Maple Leaf Originals, but they puff up which is a little disturbing. When I lived in the States they had very nice ones, Nathans were the best from the supermarket but I can't find them here. What brand do you buy and why?

Personally....I have always hated it, it's got to be one of the most useless worst food out there

No Name, Maple Leaf, Coachman....pretty much any of them.

By the time they're slung in a roll with ketchup, mustard, onions etc there doesn't seem to be any difference; they're all nice. When you're in the mood.

Costco, the ones they use in their hot dogs, can't remember the name.

Not a fan of hot dogs as I've always been disappointed when I try them. I'm willing to give it another go if anyone can recommend a decent brand.

That's the problem, they're crap in Canada.

I think the ones we buy are harvester, we all like them including the dog (the veggie in the house has strange plasticky things)

I actually prefer using real fat sausages instead of the brown wiener sausages, such as a spicy italian.

Try Nathans or Hebrew National if you can find them.

Funny enough I saw an advert on HGTV last night for Hebrew National. I thought the Jewish faith didn't eat pork?

You thought correctly. Both Nathens and Hebrew National are all beef and kosher and I believe that one or both brands are available from Costco..

How desperate for a Nathan's are you? Are you desperate enough to brave the wilds of Alberta.

The closest one to your location that I can find is Airdre just north of Calgary. So not a total east coast thing.

Why Airdre I have no idea.
