Default Home & Car insurance

Hi,

could someone please give me a rough estimate of how much home insurance would be in Ontario. This would be based on a brand new home, 3400 sq ft.

And car insurance based on a new ford expedition, with 8 years no claims from the UK

Many thanks!!!!

You'll need to contact an insurance broker. Try Hub International, they are in Ontario

With a house, depends on what type of construction it is, type of fireplaces or air tights, monitored alarm or not, type of coverage you want and so on.

With auto, again depends on coverage required, ages & experience of drivers etc.

Slight hijack of thread here as it refers to NS insurance.

Here is last year's quote:

Car quote for a 2006 Honda CRV was $1050

Home insurance was $600.

Reduction for multi-policy = $100 so total for both was $1550

I had proof of no claims (UK) but had to shop around for someone to recognise it - so used a broker. (My highest quote for car insurance was $2700 )

I have just received my renewal....

Car quote $781 - this was despite Mr Y-C-D getting a speeding ticket

Home quote was $543

Reduction for multi-policy = $195.00 so total for both = $1,129.00

This year I have saved $421 - I am a happy bunny

And the house was $1347 for the year!! Good to know that there are cheaper places out there!!!

You have to shop around that's for sure. Our car quotes were shocking as most companies didn't want to recognise our UK driving experience. Quotes were $2500 and $2700 for not taking into account previous no claims from UK and $1050 for accepting my previous good driving record.

Our policies are through Aviva and we used a broker.

Barmyarmy is an unknown quantity at this point
Thumbs up Re: Home & Car insurance

Try the Co-Operators. They honoured our no claims from the UK without any fuss. I saved $400/year.

We have been insured with Aviva for our motor home, car and house insurance. They have always accepted proof of no claims, even for the house insurance.

We hadn't thought about getting a proof of no claims letter for house insurance, but when we arranged our insurance here we just wrote to Aviva in the UK - they e-mailed a confirmation the same day, which was good of them!
