Default Help with Sype and webcam please

Hi all,
just bought a Logitech-Quickcam PRO5000 and every time we start it up, it freezes?
The internet freezes, Skype just says it's trying to connect, the internet freezes and we can't get a page up or emails:curse:

Someone suggested it might be the USB ports on our computer is playing up?
OR
Our computer is just to old to be able to use it, We have and old AMD athlon 1.100 512 ram memory and because we are using all our USB ports, I have installed a USB hub, giving us an extra 4 USB ports, but will not work on those?

Any help would be much appreciated, because we are trying to get in touch with people using Skype.

Many thanks,
regards,
Carl

You may find you'll get more information on the Skype Forum, than this one. You already have a login (your Skype username and password).

A brief search shows that you're not alone with this problem. This post on Skype CPU Load w/Video Calls, looks like it may be of use to you.

Hope this helps;

Hi to all,
many thanks for your replies.

I think the problem is that our computer is an old one, processor size is only 1100 AMD athlon with up-graded to 512 ram SD. It say's on the box, needs min of 1.6 proc with 256ram. So I'm wondering if it's to small and slow? Also not to sure about what sort of power is going to our USB ports, it mentions the one I have been using runs on 100mA, so I have been told that that might not be enough power?

So Tracey is off out now, with Em to do some girlie shopping ( Em has some b-day money to spend), so she said she will look for a smaller spec webcam and ask for some advice at PC world ( I know)

Will keep you informed, so cross your fingers.

Novaboy,
still going to bell ya later my friend

Robin,
Ummm is next weekend off

regards
Carl
