There was a huge Amway (direct sales) convention here once and almost all the attendees were short. Allowing that 'something to prove' is a generalisation it would seem to be born out by their participation in this pyramid sales empire which does require a certain attitude.

Would you be able to go out with a woman who was taller than you, or, for the ladies, a man who was shorter than you?

No, I wouldn't be happy if my partner were shorter than me and I don't know why? I am 5ft 3" and I did go out with someone the same height. My husband is 5ft 9"...but his first wife was quite tall - well over 6ft.

Did so once but there seems to be a natural order to these things doesn't there.

As somebody who is 'vertically challenged', being a mere 5', I've always had the piss taken out of me for my height. It's never occurred to me that I should be taking offence at it though.

I was recently measured and told I am 'just over 5'9"' which was disappointing as I distinctly remember being 5' 10 1/2 when I was younger. Personality trumps any misgivings over disparity in height; the supermodels I date are often taller than me.

I'm 5' 1"" 1/2.... not 6'!! Hubby is 6'2" although he tells people he is 6'3" lol

I like taller men, they make me feel more feminine! That's just me and doesn't mean I can't stand on my own two feet before any feminists jump down my throat!!!!

I'm average height. There's no poll option for us normals.

My daughter is 6' tall. Everyone seems to feel obliged to comment on this - they just can't help themselves.

She is always on the look out for someone taller than her.

It's not the best of polls. Was in a bit of a rush when adding it. I'm a normal too.

I'm short 5ft 1in, my husband is shorter 5ft 0in, short jokes are boring after a while! Although I haven't been subjected to them very much in recent years, hubby has more so. I still wear heels that make me taller, neither of us mind the height disparity.

Many tall people just don't notice shorter people, it can be a bonus on some occasions and not on others. I'm sure there are some people who practice some form of discrimination that we don't notice, that's their issue. You can't do anything about it so why worry!

A bit like me. I swear I'm shrinking!

I'd love to see someone take the piss out of Tie Domi, Brian Gionta etc for not being tall.

I had a girlfriend years ago whose dad was 5'5" at best. It would not have been a good idea to joke about his height (ex-SAS).
