Heathrow chaos
#1
I had a quick weekend trip back to the UK last weekend, arriving at LHR T3 on Friday at about 3pm.
I had hand baggage only, and to get from the aircraft, through immigration and clearing customs took 8 entire minutes. If it wasn't for that African family taking up the entire width of the corridor, I could have been out in about 7 minutes and 50 seconds.
Dogs, going etc.
Mind you, then I was stuck on the M25 for an hour...

It messed it right up for my sister picking her up so my poor mum had to wait in the lounge for another 30 minutes drinking tea and having a sandwich before she was picked up.

You were lucky. My mum flew home from Vancouver last week and not only did she land 20 minute early, she was off the plane, through immigration, and had her luggage before the scheduled landing time. So 20 minutes in all.

While I was at home I didn't have to walk over any broken bottles in the street, and I was threatened by no feral youths in hoodies too.
Britain's certainly not what is was.

I'm really sorry to hear that guys
Hopefully this attack of efficiency and social harmony ends soon.
BTW my sister is in Bristol now visiting her other half. She loves it. What the hell.

What about feral combine harvesters? (Given where you live). Also, did you have to drink alone at the pub in T3 on Monday morning or did anyone take you up on your invite?

I went for a pint by myself, and fell into conversation with a shifty-looking Welshman who was going to Bangkok, Pattaya and Koh Samui. For the culture, I'm sure.

You lot should really let us UK dwellers know when you are planning a visit!
Firstly we could lay on the 'welcoming committee'. Make sure you let us know the 'level' of welcome you require, hoodies, pikeys, chavs, neds etc.....you know the drill. We could also ensure you get the expected 'delay' in customs, including a 'search' for hidden contraband.
Secondly we can arrange for you property to be burgled whilst you are visit this foul land.
Here to please

Wasnt it only last month there were reported delays of 3 hours at Heathrow.
And what is the longst delay you have faced returning to Canada and if so was it Toronto or Vancouver?
Do not count the time spent walking from the aircraft bridge to the Customs line or once clearing Primary Customs waiting for your bags

At Detroit I waited overnight then gave up and drove around to Port Huron.

At Toronto I waited half a day, I don't remember exactly but four or five hours, then skipped around to the arrivals section and went home. That meant that I couldn't reclaim my bag but I was prepared to sacrifice some dirty socks to avoid having to wait any longer. As it happened the airline forwarded my bag anyway.

How are the waits at Buffalo?
