Does Toronto make money from Pride? I know Vancouver considers it an investment that attracts high spending poofs from around the world to the city. Not seen anything to either back this up or contradict it.

Oh f***. I don't know. It's just plain enough that these assholes are bad for my health.

It brings in millions for the local economy. I was surprised that it had funding at federal level before as it successfully gets sponsorship from TD...

Re: Hear we go again....

The federal government should not be funding parades in Toronto. Toronto is a big boy that can fund their own parades.

from the article

'The Harper government is being labelled homophobic for refusing to fund Toronto’s gay pride festival this year."

Sure, the commie star at it again. Interesting that almost 2/3rds of the vote on the article page says no to funding.

Re: Hear we go again....

If Federal money is (was) being shelled out for this festival, would all applicants be equally eligible for a share of it? For example, would a neo-conservative Christian anti-gay group be able to apply for funding for their float to be entered into the Pride parade?

It's just that that American professor pastor fellow (you know, him with the nice big moustache, strange taste in personal assistants...) could take part in Pride while apparently be seen to be preaching against it.

Win, win - surely that's what tax-payers money is for?

Pride is labeled more as a 'diversity parade' in Toronto these days... in fact it's a little too straight for my liking.

There's no such thing as a metric penis. No one advertises an improbable number of uncut millimetres (not that I'd know how many dozen millimetres is probable anyway).
