In this thread - pictures and stories about hats.
Here's my hat. I've been wearing it while sat in the garden while working on sunny afternoons. I got it 6 years ago in Vietnam for $2 and I think it's lasted quite well considering.

Does anyone else wear a hat or have an interesting hat story?

Are you bored?
My hats still packed in a box somewhere in my house, I'm hoping to locate it before the white stuff arrives

I went through a phase of wearing a Tilley to save my balding head from the assault of winter.... I gave it up though and now use the hood on my winter coat instead.
That's my 'interesting' story......

I ****ing hate hats. At my age I refuse to wear one and have done since I was forced to wear one for 13 years of my life. Hats are for vain people who want to hide their hideous hairstyle or lack of hair.
Many wear hats because they think it looks cool or are mandated to wear them for safety reasons while at work.
I have yet to see a hat protect your head when a 40 foot container is dropped on it from a height of 20 feet or above.
Sure the hat might stop the brain matter from spraying all over the place.
Sure some will argue that they can protect your head from the harmful UVA rays from the sun or the rain drops from the sky but so will wearing a box over your head with holes cut in it so you can see.
A hat may give the top of your head some warmth in winter but so will a very long scarf wrapped around your head and ears.
As for the younger generation wearing the latest hat craze with the peak of to one side of the ear then they just look like a bunch of dickheads.
I say **** hats and the people who wear them.
Yes I was bored

I've never really understood the idea of kiss-me-quick hats. Presumably its some sort come-on for strangers, it could constitute some sort of sexual harassment. And why do people only buy on a day out to the seaside?

I'm been bald for a long time, so I wear hats to protect me from the elements. I have ballcaps and bush hats for summer, (won't wear a Tilly though), a flat cap for spring and fall, touques and a Soviet chapka for winter, and an old NWMP buffalo hat from the wild west that I can only wear when it's -35 or colder or I sweat too much.

The only hat I wear is when it gets really cold I'll put on my furry Russian hat.

I gave my mother an actual Soviet Army winter hat complete with badge that I got off a Russian border guard while working in Berlin. I think it cost me 3 x copies of Playboy or Penthouse.

This is what mine is, but somebody'd already lifted the badge, but no matter. Naturally I can't post the link
but it's a Czech army ushanka - very utilitarian, but very warm.
