I thought nobody was going to say that to me today .... neither of my sons came home last night!

But son #1 has just rolled in and given me a big Mothers' Day HUG and a luke-warm cup of rather over-sweet coffee he picked up for me at Starbucks.

OH is away, so I woke up to handmade cards stuffed under the bedroom door, and copious amounts of random kisses throughout the morning!

I love being a mum!

I've just spent 8 1/2 hours of my Mothers Day in the ER at Nanaimo General with my 19yr old who has been complaining of stomach pains for a couple of days .......... I'd put it down to her chewing on those bl**dy crab bits (toes ) the other day but she did scare me a bit this morning when she woke me up at 5am looking like an extra from a zombie movie!! So off we went to the NRGH at 6am & left at 2:30pm ........ after a barrage of tests & an ultrasound, turns out it's an infection in her Lymph nodes so panic over .......... at least she is OK.

My 16yr old son wrote me a Haiku poem in Japanese class but can't remember what all of it says!!

Oh what a way to spend any day, let alone Mothers Day. Glad to hear she is ok.

We had a mass mother's day. Souvette's mother lives in Montreal, close to her (Souvette's) sister. A surprise party was organised at the sister's place, with us travelling up from Ottawa, a brother coming down from Quebec City, plus the SIL's mother and grandma's sister. All in all we had six mothers, with one husband between them.

I fell in love with a car, which is unusual for me because I don't drive and generally speaking dont give a toss about cars.

Our 4-year-old "helped" me make pancakes & maple syrup to provide breakfast in bed for OH. He'd made a lovely card at kindergarten and written the message inside all by himself, which went down really well (to the extent of causing a certain amount of dabbing at the eyes with a tissue...).

The kids and I hid in the family room watching the Turkish GP while Mum had a lazy morning in bed - seemed a good way to keep everybody happy!

Come on then Souv, what was this car that so turned your head?

A 1990 Mustang.

SIL's OH likes toys. He bought the thing a while back and has restored it to showoom condition. He's also "tinkered" under the hood (ie completely re-built the engine, at a cost of $14k). I don't think it delivered 450hp when it was first manufactured. It sounds like a wild animal when it's idling. It sounds like an absolute monster when revved. Things stirred in me.

I doubt he'll keep it for long. I thik it's time for another project, evidenced by the fact that his garage also contains an engine from an AC Cobra.
