Re: A guide for settling in Canada - for Royals
You obviously haven't read the addendum to the PR application policy for the Obscenely Rich or Royal:
1. The answer is always "Yes"
2. If in doubt refer to 1.

Normally I don't bother opening satire sites, but a friend sent me this and I thought it was cute.

If I was going to choose a Canadian artist to sum up Canada for me personally, it would be Gordon Lightfoot. easy listening and very Canadian....but of course thats an opinion coming from a British expat that is trying to assimilate with how he sees Canada....

Closely followed by Shawn Mendez and Alessia Cara.
At least some of the youngsters - even the Biebs, when it comes to it - can sing convincingly. As can a bunch of now-middle-aged female singers: Celine, and Sarah McLachlan, and Shania Twain, and Alanis Morissette, and even Avril Levigne. It might be sacrilegious to say it, but Neil Young and Gord Downie wouldn't win any prizes for their singing. I far prefer their songs when covered by other artists.
Bryan Adams, sad to relate, has never taken a dime of CanCon money. We have only ourselves to blame for him, not the Government.
The biggest travesty of CanCon, of course, is that we're subjected to bands like Arcade Fire, who manage to record the exact same album every 18 months or so and pass it off as new and interesting music. Bilge, the lot of it. IMO and YMMV and all other required waivers of responsibility.....

Popular yes....but its all very subjective....I try to keep an open mind on all generes of music, even if its not my cup of tea.
Drake is huge if you like hip hop and rap....personally I cant stand that genre of "music", I don't just dislike it, I actually find it very irritating. .....contemporary poetry maybe...music no. I actually don't mind the Weeknd, as he has done some catchy pop tunes...some critics even comparing some of his songs to Micheal Jackson, but he has a way to go before being described as a classic Canadian artist.
