Having finally succumb to this rather strange early Thxgiving I just ordered, under strict and non-negotiable guidelines, an organic, free range, non-medicated, psychologically healthy, well educated, debt free and non-smoking turkey from our local butchers.

HID maintains that if we're going to eat dead animals she wants to know that they've had a dignified, fulfilled and joyous life before they've had an onion stuffed up their arse and then shoved into an oven.

The epitome of eloquence. I love it.

Great example of why I'm not especially enamoured by PC Points at Loblaws/Superstore.

A common offer for 2l diet pepsi - be it at Superstore, Loblaws, Lawtons or Shoppers - 99c/$1; 4/$4 (the same thing); 4/$5; 4/$6.

Never any need to pay the equivalent of more than $1.50 a bottle.

So this week, my PC points entices me with $1500 points for every $10 on pepsi.

This week, Superstore's "offer" () for pepsi is 2/$4.

To spend $10 that means 6 bottles. $12. The points are worth $1.50 so 6 bottles cost $10.50. Or $1.75 each.

Now, that's still not a bad price. But it's a combination of two offers and it's still $1.75.
Last Friday, my mother in law bought 24 @ 97c from Walmart and this is the 4th or 5th week running that Shoppers has been charging $1.

No doubt Superstore will have them for $1 or 4/$5 in the next week or two.

I just got a case of Pride for $2.70 a can. That's my bargain of the month.

Brexit has its advantages (for you).

Brexit is a pain the arse for me personally, as well as being a gobsmackingly stupid idea for the UK, but what does it have to do with the price of beer?

Seems odd to me to do it at all. Every year I google 'why are we doing this?' And the reasons for it are never convincing enough for me to remember them by the following year.

We get something similar, which means it is far too expensive to do twice a year for something as hohum as turkey. The one year we had turkey for thanksgiving when we had it for Christmas dinner it was a bit 'really? This again?' Turkey is not worth eating more than once a year imo. Especially when I can't get decent bacon, and chipolatas.

Yes, very stupid, but it's hammering down the exchange rate, making British beer a bit more affordable.

Oh, I see. The LCBO is a law unto itself so it's only Pride that's discounted.

Might stop the Scottish Corpuscles doing a coup in my arm and reaching for the Wells IPA at $2 a can.

Still speccy hen is normally $10 for a fourpack.

Need t go to the beer store...

I now have rather more beer than I planned. The LCBO website says they don't sell Pride anymore so I've been driving to a place called The Beer Store in Brampton. No time for that today so I filled my basket with cans of Arkell but then I saw a single can of Pride on the shelf. I took that and then at the cash asked if they had any more, they said they did and it was on sale so I took all they had. They said to phone ahead in future as they don't usually put it on the shelf but do have it in the back. So now I have the Arkell and the Pride. I'll cope somehow.
