Gosh darn loonie...........
We are going to Vegas in March for a small wedding as I think I mentioned here once, but it was planned in October and deposit paid, and we tried to pay the full thing then as well, but the hotels policy is they only accept full payment 30 days before the wedding.
Now the final payment is coming up soon, and the stupid loonie has to keep on dropping...
So annoying sometimes having CAD when having to deal with the US so often.
I may have to see about getting some sort of at home call centre job that pay's in USD to keep USD stocked up...
Just annoying, not the end of the world I know.

It's rough right now - I think my planned trip to Florida is gonna be about 20% more expensive!

I'm loving it!
I get paid in pounds that are transferred here.

Our savings in the UK are looking decent right now. Plus Husband's parents are here next month, and his brother's family in May, so they are happy that their trip is progressively getting cheaper.
We were just in Miami last week, though, and that trip ended up being a bit pricier than we'd originally planned, but it wasn't that long so we just went with it.
Swings and roundabouts, as always! (I have at least been enjoying putting far cheaper gas in my car! Filled up my tank for less than $40 last week, first time in AGES I've done that!)

I've still got an inherited property to sell in the UK.
Any time now would be good!
I got 1.82 when I sold my own house last spring, so can't complain...
I don't see $2 exchange rate coming any time soon. Maybe after the Conservatives get an outright win in the general election we will see upper $1.90s, but the impending recession across mainland Europe will have a downward drag.
If Labour get in, you can look forward to a return to $1.50-$1.60 range whilst they busy themselves destroying the economic recovery (as they usually do).
The UK is fairly highly geared to oil revenues too.

Yeah, because it's so much better to hold Sterling than holding CAD. After all the economy in the EU is doing so well...
Converted everything I possibly could to USD when CAD started dropping after Christmas 2013, little did I know then that this whole fiasco would kick off too.
The problem with the falling CAD is that even if you are paid in a foreign currency it reduces the effective contribution room to an RRSP and TFSA etc. as well.

I just dont want to have put off trips to see family, and the lower the CAD goes the more we will also be trapped in Canada since travel outside will be too pricey.
Luckily I have a friend who works for a company that pays in USD for virtual call centre. He makes an average of 11/hr. You tell them when you want to work and if they have shifts you work.
Would just be extra income to put aside.
Loonie was like 62 or 65 cents when I first moved here and made trips to the US near impossible.
Its times like this I wish North America had a common currency.
