Going tomorrow!

Somebody just came in and fell in love with my old piano for their little girl to learn on!
They paid cash and have the movers all lined up to fetch it tomorrow! Gulp.

Seeing you are talking of selling, I belong to a group called Grandmothers4Grandmothers, which raises funds for the Stephen Lewis foundation to send to grandmothers in Africa raising children because all the middle generation have died of Aids (actually I don't like the name much because anybody can join - not only grandmothers - but I didnt make up the name).
Anyway, someone had the bright idea that we would hold a garage sale. It's tomorrow. I went down to the hall tonight with my granddaughter to help sort things out. We said "gently used" items except clothing. My god - you have never seen such crap in all your life. I think everyone in the city brought anything they didn't want. An old push button TV with those rabbit ears on the top! I opened a cardboard box - it was full of half used vaseline, hand cream, ancient beige baby wipes, shampoo etc. Needless to say the whole lot went in the bin!
Obviously some people hunted around for good stuff but some people -- one of the ladies said that what happens at their church when they hold a garage sale is that -- dad has died and they haul everything out of the house and don't check anything. Then when a garage sale comes along -- all the boxes get brought along.
I really don't know who is going to buy most of that awful garbage!
I am only glad I am not in the group who is going to get rid of the stuff that doesn't sell!

Had to chuckle at this one - when doing a collection for a school summer fayre we asked for 'quality unused gifts - no bric a brac.'
The majority of gifts were fantastic but among the gems there was an old teapot with used teabags still in it! and a hairbrush.....full of hair! What where they thinking.

The previous announcement said she was going to give it to the needy. From what I have seen - it should be recycled to the dump!
