Default going back to UK....Holiday Insurance

Hi
Just a quick question really. My husband took a three year career break from the Police to meet PR requirements. He is due to return to Uk in December to resume in the Police and we were wondering if he needs to get travel insurance of if he is still treatable on NHS for any medical emergencies. i dont want to pay out uneccesarily. He will be in the Uk for 45 days as he will be working his notice period and taking retirement then coming back to Canada.

Thanks for any advice

having read that info...thank you. Because he is going back to the Police to resume working and because he is entitled to live permanently in Uk, he meet eligibility, so that is good to know. is that how you interpret it?

Is that how you read it? On the NHS page is says that the person has to be intending to remain in the UK?

It's probably a moot point for a returning Brit at present (as it would be easy to say you're back to work and intending to remain and then, whoops, change of plans) but there are plans to tighten up residency checks in the future.
