It is as simple as that, if you are not totally committed then do not even think about it as your life will be very lonely without your family and friends!

Thats a very negative post, its normal to have doubts about any major change in life, and no you wont necessarliy be lonely without family and friends.

Hi all,

I have had my go ahead for a work permit last week and commence work in Toronto on the 26th February! I am having to leave my wife and kids behind whilst the house sells and I am now starting to get doubts!!!
I think that it's only natural to have doubts, it's like the minds way of rebelling against change because change = stress!
I haven't slept well since I found out - 2 hours last night, so no doubt this is having an effect on my negativity aswell!

Anyways.... it's al downhill from here.....:scared:

Hi,
Only just joined the forum and have been reading some of the messages which have been helpful and not so helpful wih our impending move to Canada, our application was received in Aug 2005 and having read some of you messages, see that some of you have had yur visa through within 2 years.
My husband, daughter of 16 and myself all decided it was the right decision for us following visiting of family 2-3 yrs ago, but I am feeling a little apprehensive at the thought of leaving all my friends and family, my hubbie is 50 and I am 44, and hope to continue my nursing career when we eventually land. The whole idea of us moving to Canada was for a better life and to spend more time together as a family but following some of the messages re holiday entitlement and wages compared to England I am no so sure.
Is there anyone out there who can help me regain my enthusiasm. we are looking to move to Barrie or Collingwod in Ontario, does anyone have any positive comment for me.
Thanks
Sally, Paul & Steph:scared:

Just go for it do you want to be sat there in three years time regretting not at least giving it a go. I think it has been a fantastic learning experience and I would do it again. "Make your life extraordinary"

and dont worry we all have doubts but try to be positive ........ it just could be the best thing you ever did. ;)

No worries ...... there is never enough positivity on this site there are lots of people who have made the move and are loving it and just dont post.

You are just worried about the unknown which is perfectly normal......... Hell I get scared about the simplest of things everyday, but it doesnt stop me from doing things. Every new day has an element of unknown, but you still go on with it. You have more strength than you think. ;)

GOOD LUCK :)

Are you Canadian or did you move from the UK, if so how long ago and how did the whole process go for you?

Moved from London ....... whole process took 2 years...... have been here since June 06. Took a total of six weeks to both get jobs and we both have more holiday entitlement than we did in the UK, also for similar salary. (But we are in Calgary Alberta that is in a boom, so loads of jobs). We are now pretty settled, meeting lots of lovely people and enjoying our new life, which I might add is completely different from London. There are a few things that p-ss me off but they are only small things, overall our new life is good.

I'm sure Smelly (love ya girl) will answer that herself.

BUT

Don't forget she isnt you (gee you're lucky ;) ) and comes with different life experience and expectations.

Here's my list.

How long it takes peeps to pull away at the lights.
Speed limits are ridiculously low.
The fact Cars in Canada so rarely come with functioning signal lights.
No decent Chippy.
No decent Indian restaurants.
Red Tape.
TV is 75%+ repeats.
Recently I've got sick of hearing 'Your accent is so kewl\awesome\cute\sexy'.
'Canadian Content' on the radio.
