Hi guys,
Well we are now 6 weeks here in Ontario and we are settling in well. The only issue seems to be getting interviews for jobs. It just seems like they wont get back to us. We are both highly qualified to work. I have 2 degrees and my better half a masters and a degree but we seem to be loosing out. I know we are not here long but wish we could find some work and start moving up the Canadian ladder.

Takes ages to get any answers, phone calls answered etc etc. You just have to keep plugging at it.
MOH took a job as a security man as soon as he got here, we figured it was easier to get a job if you already had one, and though the pay was the pits- minimum wage, well it was money and people and living and working in Ontario

If its any consolation its the Ontario way. I thought it was cos we were foriegn but watching a few Canadians go through similar experiences its the norm.

Take a few months to get settled in - three maybe.
Get acclimatised, make a few friends, do some social stuff for reference/conversational aspects, don't look like it's a big crazy rush. It will give you more to talk about at interview, and a little bit of time under yer belt allows the interviewer the ability to better figure out if your'e a sticker or a runner.
In essence, that way you won't come across as a tea drinking British misfit.

but now I have a work permit I want to get into the work force like yesterday. Perhaps if I look close enough I'll find a advert that forgot to add the DON'T RING
