Well having lived in Germany for many years, I can assure you that the number of second and third generation non-Turkish minority group members is miniscule. And if they don't speak German, what language do they get their education in? Only German is available (assuming we're not discussing children of American GIs here).

No idea. Ethnic/religious schools? This seems to be a growing (and alarming) trend in some circles, where normal/state schooling is looked upon with a disdain that eventually extends to the whole of the Western society as we know it today. Evangelicals from the Bible Belt, Muslim true believers, Raelians - they all like to think they work the system from within...

Not quite the same as "the bubble of multiculturalism has burst" and most certainly not from a socialist (although this, if you'll excuse the remark, is a red herring anyway).

I can find nothing in the article to suggest that second and third generation minorities don't speak German. Merely a report that people of Turkish origin, who (finally, a few years ago) became eligible for, and claimed, German citizenship, are pissed off that their relatives have to demonstrate proficiency in German before they can join them.

This may seem a minor issue until you remember that very large numbers of Russians who were descended from German grand-parents, "returned" to Germany from the region near Volgograd in the aftermath of 1989. None of these folk, or their relatives, spoke German.

Wow. Next, they're going to say there was a translation error somewhere. The article I (and a few others) have read on EuroNews' site quoted her as literally saying: "The multicultural society bubble has burst..." (I was quoting, hence the quotation marks in my initial post).

Yes, but, hey! when you have something as bizarre as the Blutrecht (if I'm not mistaken, only Germany and Israel have such strange laws nowadays), you have to accept the consequences. In fact, this is the best argument for what I've always said: you are what you speak (natively). The fact that genetically you're Chinese, Somali, Bulgarian or a Tuna fish means something only for racists, no matter what their ideological or scientific disguise might be.
