They let dubya in to make a speech in Calgary. I suspect he is more culpable than Galloway.

I don't agree with much of what Gorgeous George has to say, but he certainly brings colour to the dour grey of current British politics. However, Canada's immigration rules are Canada's business and if they choose to interpret his outspoken support for Hamas as a bar to entry under the relevant section of the Immigration Act, there's not a lot he can do about it. |

apparently it's not that he's a threat, but that he has demonstrated support for an organisation (Hamas) that is banned in Canada.

Re: George Galloway
I actually met the guy when he came to speak to the students where I work. He was the consummate politician engaging with the students who met him. I was expecting some joke q's about his cat performance in BB, but the kids asked some great political q's and he answered well. I think we were surprisingly impressed with his performance.

This is a heaven-sent PR opportunity for Galloway... who was strutting his stuff on C4 news in the UK, salivating with pleasure at a media opportunity. Freedom of speech and all that... but with some people you wish the 'oxygen of publicity' (as Thatch used to say) would just choke the b***ers. |

He's a very clever and manipulative demagogue, with deeply dubious morals... great fun to listen to, and wasn't it entertaining when he ran rings around those dumb US senators a couple of years back? But his cozying up to Saddam Hussein and Hamas bigwigs is nauseating... he knows full well just how much blood is on their hands.

BTW I didn't find Saddam Hussein anything like as nauseous as George Bush or Tony Blair and Hamas is, if you recall, in power in Gaza as a result of a democratic election. |
