Re: Gang Shootings Toronto Rant
It's this sort of thing which explains why the Cops in Toronto don't need more powers and never solve any crimes:

Saturday saw shooting right in the heart of Toronto's main shopping district where two people were killed.
Sunday saw 4 people shot in Kensington Market- a hub of nightlife.
It's equivocal to shootings on Oxford Street and Camden High Street.
It is in my opinion out of control now and taking places in busy parts of town where anyone can be caught in the cross fire.

And not in the parts of town you'd expect them either.

2 more shot in Brampton too just today.
Get Police our on the streets let’s stop people ask how their day is, interact with the public, extra patrols are needed, this is just ****ed up, if this was terrorists shooting randomly in busy parts of town action would be taken !!!

Agreed this is totally out of control. Late news say Toronto has had more shootings than NY.

Aren’t most of the shootings around TO gang related? Not 5 year old Jimmy accidentally shooting is 2 year old sister with his father’s gun...or 50+ shot while watching a band play....or 12 kids shot at school.

Re: Gang Shootings Toronto Rant
Toronto sounds like Vancouver a few years back when gang shootings were a semi regular event for a while.
Seems to have slowed a lot in recent years though.

on Netflix, gang shootings, the drug trade, money laundering and people having clandestine meetings in cars with the engine still running in out of the way places was pretty standard when the show was originally shown (2006-2007)

Aren’t most of the shootings around Chicago or LA gang related? I suggest that gang shootings are not terribly desirable, one should not shrug them off. Participants having the required machinery laying around inevitably leads to the other incidents. I don't think anything in particular can or should be done, it's just that it's irked me since Michael Moore waddled on to the scene that Canadians seek to create a perception that, somehow, guns are safer once you ship them up here.

Suicides account for most gun deaths in the US, followed by homicide. Accidental shootings resulting in death make up less then 2%.

I think Jerseygirl's point was that the other kind is far less common in Canada - Montreal Poly aside...but that was 1982, which was rather point was it not?

IMO any gun related death is one death too many,

It was a joke...hence the . Maybe I should have said bad guys...shooting bad guys.
IMO gang related shootings are regarded differently in the US (bad guys shooting bad guys) vs innocent people shot in mass shootings. That’s the reason the former doesn’t get the press coverage the latter does.
