Hmmm, let me think.... oh yes, 3 days before Xmas last year we had a totally devastating ice storm around here. I should have thought earlier in the month to salt all the trees that fell in my backyard. Silly me.

It's been a bit pants all day here...we've had a pretty bad snowstorm followed by freezing rain, so the roads are horrid now...knowing that you mob don't like it either makes it just somehow, very stupidly better.

I'm glad we can help. To be honest, the weather hasn't been as awful as it will be later around here...yet. But it's started to be awful a good bit earlier than usual.

Which is immensely depressing.

It's awful today, 30mph winds, blowing snow, unploughed streets, SUVs in ditches all over the place, -14 without the windchill.

It's only the depth of snow that will get worse. Well, that and freezing rain, and those brief thaws that coat the roads with half an inch of water before it all freezes again, and the snow that falls on that ice sheet so you can't see it, and black ice, and freezing fog.

Still, they got three feet in Buffalo, it's better here, eh?

It isn't bad here at all but I sympathise with you in the east, you went through enough last year.

Yeah we have a proper winter storm/blizzards conditions, schools closed and about 40com predicted today and more tomorrow.. I'm a bit worried about a couple of trees on the property too!

The snow that fell and lingered for a couple of days before being topped up Sunday is practically all gone, thanks to yesterdays rain.

Forecast for today was supposed to be a sunny 12, but it's just sunny and 6.

Still nice though.

Yeah, 1st time in >15 years my sister chose to come to Canada for Christmas? She got diverted to Toronto in that snow/ice storm. She's not planning on coming back this year.

It's a bit pants, very chilly, & quite windy here. Some snow.

Bitching & moaning about winter is what some of us do, & we do it here. Deal with it, or scroll on by.

The problem is, it wouldn't be too bad if you could wander down to the local pub with your dog and sit by a large open fire and have a few jars while reading the paper but everywhere is so rubbish here so the cold just makes even more rubbisher.

Incoming K. True. But I did stop off in a fairly decent pub on the way home this afternoon and sipped a couple of pints while reading Michael Harris's new book called Party of One. Which is a detailed summary of all the evil that S. Harper has done to Canada since he was born.

No open fire though and my dog died last year, so a fail I suppose.

I went to the corner store yesterday to buy some, er, food. It's normally a 2-minute walk. Yesterday it was 15 minutes each way. The road (no sidewalks here) is a sheet of ice. I resorted to walking across my neighbours' front yards.
