Kamloops Mounties are trying to track down a motorcyclist who continued driving after his female passenger fell off the back of his bike near the Heffley turnoff on Highway 5 on Sunday night.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Doug Aird said emergency crews were called out to a section of Highway 5 north of Kamloops just after 10 p.m. after the woman fell off the motorcycle.

“Police have learned the motorbike was turning eastbound off Highway 5 onto the Old Highway 5 when the female passenger lost her footing placement on the pegs and fell off the bike,” he said.

“The driver failed to stop and continued riding.”

Aird said the fallen passenger was taken to Royal Inland Hospital and treated for shoulder injuries.

Cops are still looking for the driver and are not ruling out the possibility that alcohol was involved.
