He runs a kids football charity foundation.....like he said, "it was all for the kids"

Hope the $3,0150 was worth it, especially when he had the chance to pay it back and he refused. Someone forgot to tell RF that you don't take money from lobbyists because they always want something back.

To see a man that won by 380,000 votes lose to 1 person is definitely interesting. RF always thought he was above the law, 1 for him and 1 for others.

Perhaps he should just go run his family business full-time

It's a good week for Toronto.

The Argos win the Grey Cup.
Ford gets kicked out.
And the Leafs are still undefeated this season.

It's a good week.

I'm sure you've read the press today so I don't need to answer your questions.

Make a statement on an internet forum.
Get challenged on it.
Respond by "I'm sure you've read the press today so I don't need to answer your questions" as opposed to arguing your point?

I doubt that's the case. Primarily people are gloating because Ford is a loathsome man, widely reviled, and his arrogance has landed him in the shit. Everyone likes to see a bully get his comeuppance.

Beyond that, there's a level venality which is, and should be, unacceptable in politicians. Canadians are generally comfortable with a bit of corruption in government, bent Prime Ministers are par for the course, but the idea that someone should be able to do anything at all in power simply because he did not, or could not, read the rules against doing so, is a step too far.

Maybe Toronto should go after Ford for the cost of a new election.

The fact that he was using council staff and stationary at the office, not to mention his political clout, to raise money for his personal pet project, and then sat in on the vote when this was discussed, which any idiot (well, all but one idiot) could see was a clear conflict of interest, none of that worries you?

He is a liability. Its not about the $3000, its about the fact that he doesn't know what he's doing is inappropriate and illegal.

He does have lots of supporters though. Will be interesting if he runs and gets voted back in.

And if you don't think it could possibly happen - the Americans voted in good old boy George W - twice.

Some people never learn.

I think that might well happen. There's an element of protest voting in Mayoral elections in Toronto, Mel Lastman was Mayor for yonks despite, or perhaps because, he was a buffoon always good for an outrageous comment (when I think of Africa I think of being boiled in a pot, was one I loved). Mayor isn't a really important position, it's just a figurehead thing, and Toronto has a lot of politicians one might find to be insufferable pompous busybodies, Jack Layton being the archetype. The previous Mayor, a rather grubby man in ill fitting tweed, name forgotten now, was another.

I can see a "revenge of the common man" vote going for Ford against an unbearably worthy candidate especially if the other candidate is an educated person or somehow ethnic.

Canadian democracy works then as long as the right person gets the job. Otherwise keep looking over your shoulder.

Knowing that the loonies on the left thought that the wrong guy got democratically voted in!!!and have since bullied him out! He should have been more carefull.

He shouldn't have been so obviously a crook. It's not a left/right issue.

Hes not been bullied out, he broke the law.

You seriously think the loonies on the right wouldnt have done exactly the same thing if a left wing mayor had behaved the same irresponsible way?

Remember Clinton being impeached about lying about a blow job... same thing, people have a reasonable expectation that their elected officials will maintain certain minimal ethical standards of behaviour.

Thank you for putting "blow job" in a post about Rob Ford. I've now lots of room for lunch.

Actually, I haven't. The paper I read is a local one that tends to comment upon what is happening in Toronto, or the rest of the world for that matter, sometime after it has happened. I should be grateful if you would enlighten me.
