I'm narked that I didn't get points for Sharon. I didn't put Ariel Sharon, just Sharon, although it should have been obvious what I meant.

can't you go in and edit it yourself?

Edit: yes you can. I've done it for you. I see you'd already made your replacement choice (Mubarak).

Back on topic, if I may, Rob Ford has been transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital for further investigations & treatment.

There's now a story coming out which suggests that he may well withdraw from the mayoral election and that brother Doug may register as a candidate tomorrow (the deadline for doing so).

Doug is of course even more venal and corrupt than Rob but nowhere near so stupid. I find this a bit worrying to say the least.

Mount Sinai is THE place to go for those with colon/rectal issues. Back in 2005 my Dad had his large intestine removed (!) and it was at Mount Sinai. Great hospital. If Ford is being transferred there, this is a pretty big deal.

It will be interesting to see what happens between now and 2pm tomorrow in terms of the race. No idea if Doug would actually win if he puts his name on instead of Rob. I'm with you that it's worrying, I'd rather have Rob over Doug.

Keeping an eye on this one...

I can see how he'd play it though and it might very well work. He'd keep the thick as two planks Ford Nation and pick up a lot of sloppy sympathy support a la Jack Leighton and/or Lucien Bouchard.

As you'd be quick to tell other posters, it's Layton, FFS.

Mea culpa: my only excuse is that his widow is from the Orient.

Rob Ford withdraws.

Rob Ford pulls out of mayoral race, Doug Ford steps in - Toronto - CBC News

His nephew who was running in Rob's old district has also withdrawn, clearing the way for Rob to run as a councillor.

Will be interesting to see if Doug's name is added to the ballot in the next 45 minutes.

Edit:

Alright, so it looks like Rob is registering (or has already registered?) to run in Ward 2, his old ward. Doug is in the process of filing his nomination papers now, and will probably be on the ballot.

Let the circus begin.

It's Ford Musical Chairs.

Mike Ford withdraws from Ward 2
Rob Ford withdraws from Mayoral race
Doug Ford tries to file, problem with the paperwork
Rob Ford enters race in Ward 2
Doug Ford refiles (ugh) and is successful

I liked a comment I saw elsewhere...

What's Doug Ford's campaign slogan? "what he said" and an arrow pointing to a picture of his brother.
