Default Following on about Creme Eggs...

Just looking on wikipedia and found this:

A Cadbury Creme Egg is a brand of chocolate egg produced by Cadbury Schweppes in the United Kingdom, and under license by The Hershey Company in the United States.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadbury%27s_Creme_Egg

And I thought it tasted Hershey like, no wonder I have hardly had any since being here!

No, you're misreading the page. It's made by Cadbury in the UK, (and under license by Hershey US but not made in the US ).

I've noticed "imported by..." on all Canadian wrappers, and when you mentioned it before about the purple wrappers not being British made, I took the liberty of emailing Cadbury Canada. They told me this:

Dear .....:

Thank you for contacting us about Cadbury Creme Eggs.

Our apologies for not clearly answering your question upon your initial contact. To clarify, Cadbury Crème Eggs sold in Canada are produced at Cadbury Trebor Bassett in Bourneville, England. Cadbury Crème Eggs sold in the US are manufactured and distributed under a franchise agreement with The Hershey Company. As stated on their label, they are Made in England, however you'll need to reach out to The Hershey Company for information on the formulation for the US product.

Sincerely,

...

So we wont get into what it means when you're obsessed enough to contact Cadbury to find out where exactly Creme eggs are made then?

There is defintely a difference between the 2, I am 100% sure about that! If you taste a Canadian one to a British one then you will know the difference. It is quite good in a way as I don't buy that many.

I had a creme egg dairy milk bar the other day that was pure heaven.

I think they all taste the same, but if you send me a British one, I can complete the trio and do a side-by-side taste test The US one is my preferred one as it's got the best wrapper, but more importantly it's smaller and can be shoved in the gob whole once you've bitten the top off

So you think Cadbury's chocolate in general tastes the same here?

There is a massive difference between the 2, so big that I don't buy Canadian cadbury's chocolate.

The only think I found a similarity was a flake but that is it.

It probably is slightly different...I believe Cadbury's use different recipes for different countries because of the climate. Cadbury's chocolate sold in NZ tastes like the UK chocolate...I was told it's the same recipe because the climate is similar. Cadbury's chocolate that I bought in Australia was dreadful...more like the US chocolate.

The Cadbury's I buy in Toronto is far better than the stuff made in the US I assure you.

There are several shops in T.O. which sell a variety of British chocolate. Went to one in The Beaches a couple of weeks ago and bought a Twirl, Double Decker and Walkers Cheese and Onion crisps.
