Floods and more water
I need to start building an arc soon.
Have been invited to friends on top of a hill in Staunton. Yup, would be great. Just one thing - it is right on the other side of the floods in Glos. Not really a good idea to even think about driving to get there. Trains are out of the question as well. Bowsers set up here in Cheltenham. Power will go soon. Have e-mailed all my clients and given them direct e-mail to my blackberry incase everything goes down. I'm fed up with this rain. AM thinking of heading off to friends in Germany. At least hey have some sun there. ARGH! I'm going to the bar. |
Re: Floods and more water
Oh, I really feel for you. Such devastation and the aftermath of it all, well it doesn't bear thinking about. Stay safe!

Got friend's parents living on Princess Ave. Better check in and see how they are doing. Buddy is living in South Africa. |

Oh, thanks for asking! We're absolutely fine here in Hull. Only drizzles of rain and not lasting long either. I've been near Princes Ave today and it's all dry I'm happy to say:)
Thanks! Glad to hear that. For both you and my friend's parents. Have been thinking about calling them. Been a pen pal with their son for almost 30 years. |

I feel for you suffering in the floods - seems so bizarre especially as here in Alberta we are having weeks of unprecedented hot weather - sorry to rub it in!! Stay high and stay dry.
I was on radio in SLovakia today talking about it. It is absolutely insane. Just in on the news. Severn is 6 inches from brusting the wall holding it back. When it does, and it will, parts of central Glousecter will be under 10 feet of water. Peak is supposedly at around midnight. |
Re: Floods and more water
we were very lucky sold our house on kingswood hull in january then moved out to lloydminster striaght after. hate to think what we would of done if we waited to sell our house because we would never of sold it after the floods so we was lucky really as the house was under 4 feet of water. My friend said he saw our house on the local television programe and could`nt believe how lucky we have been. I know it sounds selfish but we would`nt of got to realise our dream of getting into alberta. the weather today is in the 30`s and its getting warmer we had the wife`s parent`s over for three week`s and they thoroughly enjoyed it here even commentating on how good the food taste`s here. they went back to a rainy bilton grange in hull last thursday. mind you it`s going to take us two year`s to recover after they have been. :D

I can't understand how the whole of Europe are having a heat wave, yet a few miles across the channel in Blighty were all getting washed away.
Was chatting to Arris earlier, she's had to fill her bath with water and is on standby with candles . Not heard from her since so hope she's ok. |

Kingswood did have it bad didn't they? :(Imagine after all that devastation trying to sell a previously flooded house? Doesn't bear thinking about. My brother lives in Anlaby and has lost everything downstairs and the car, freezer/food in his garage. Yes, they're only things but they've worked so hard like most people have. I'm glad you're enjoying your lives out there. Are you sure you're not missing it? |
