We have booked our flights at last, leave Manchester on the 26th October :eek:
Ive booked us into the days Inn again as it was really nice last time and is cheap aswell.
Cant believe it, pressing that proceed button to pay for them was scccccccary lol.
Just got to sort the container out now and start packing, im a pro at this packing game now though :rofl:
I have the great task of telling all my family now, they knew we might be going but i didnt say for sure just incase.
So thats my job tomorrow, break the news, then me and Daz are going to start getting things sorted.
Cant wait, its only 5 weeks :blink:

Thanks everyone, i told my dad and sister today and it went well, just my mam to go now and shes not too happy, she understands though :(
Chloe has mixed feelings about leaving her mates again but im sure it,ll be fine in the end :blink:

We are hoping to be on the tc flight on the 26th too :eek:, agreed a house sale and arranged to complete in 3 weeks (cash buyer) so just about gives us a week from moving out to saying all our goodbyes, im really getting scared :ohmy: seems they might be a few of us on this flight :rofl:

OK, folks I have pre-warned the security services. Apparently they will be drafting in agents from Mossad, CIA, MI5, MI6 and FBI. (As you are aware we currently have numerous former KGB agents working in Calgary Airport).

We should be safe and these 'terrorists' will be apprehended before they get out of the airport.

Kids have also made friends and they havent started school yet, they are doing there first half day today, will be great...shopping time for me ;)

Thanks Gill, im glad your first week is going well. Im looking forward to seeing everyone at the airport, it,ll be a right laugh, we can cry on eachothers shoulders then hit the duty free lol.;)

The airlines are saying we need a visa to land, we dont get ours till after we land, if i have all the documents will that be enough? Thats a new one to me :blink:

We did this last year, applied at POE for WP and it was ok aslong as you had all the paperwork etc, i was just wondering if anything had changed :confused:

By the way, anyone considering shipping just boxes over??? I am shipping 17 tea chest size over and 3 book boxes for dvds etc and have a price of only 860 pounds!!
All i am leaving behind are our big items. Daz wants to leave them and make sure we settle this time as they have been shipped back and fro a few times now :rofl:
This way we get to take everything, even my coffee table and end table as they can be flat packed. I have to leave my settee which is old anyway and all the bedroom furniture and dining room table, but they are just material objects :eek: ;)

We have had some bad news last weekend, the couple that put an offer in on our house, pulled out Friday, we were gutted to say the least. All the plans we coming together great, now back to square one:(:frown::confused::unsure:

So want to get there for the kids really, get them settled. Me and Trace have been talking about maybe just her and the kids going and me stopping here to sell house. It's Trace that has Job, LMO and her work permit(waiting for it to come).

Horrible feeling to be waiting to sell again. Then I came across your post and remembered what you and yours went through and the determination you have to make it work and press on.

I wish you well and have fingers crossed for you and maybe we can actually meet up in Calgary when we get there ehhh???

Hi Guys,

We booked our flights this morning, flying out 26th from Manchester heading to edmonton.:rofl:

I was filling up trying to complete the booking, god knows what I will be like getting on the plane.;)

We are heading down to Manchester the day before so our goodbyes will be done the day before, so that should be a bit better.

Have sold the house to a buy to let person, have lost a packet, but we dont care now just want to get to Edmonton to start our new life.:thumbsup:

Cant believe things seem to be happening so quickly now, after waiting for sooo many months.

Darren hasnt sat the exam yet, he has to go out and do a training course, but he isnt the guinea pig this time, they have all the right tutoring in place, thank god :huh:
He,s a bit worried about it, but im sure he,ll be fine this time and hes already swatting!!
Its harder going this time, my family seemed to think we had settled so they got a shock when i said we were going again :(, it,ll be fine though.
We are also going to manchester the day before and staying in the Bewley hotel, we stayed there last year and it was perfect and cheap.:thumbsup:
All the paperworks goigng back and forth at the minute for work permits etc so ive been kept busy, next week i have all the packing to start, i cant see my birthday being much fun this year (20th) its only 5 days before we leave :eek:

Wow, that is a coincidence lol, we will have alot to celebrate in the airport then ;)
Im having a meal on the wed night with all my mates and usualy it would be a great night, but im sooooo dreading it :(
I never gave a thought to Xmas around the corner aswell, my first one without my mum, im going to have to arrange something really special to make it up to the kids :thumbup:

Hi Mandi, I'm so excited for you flying out soon. We are hoping to fly out to Vancouver in May 2009, so this xmas will be our last with all our extended family we are making it extra special, maybe staying with them for a few days.

The one thing that makes me sad about moving out there is that my daughter is only 9 months old, she'll be about 18 months old by the time we go and she will never really remember my family, my son is very close to his grannies and grandads and I think will always have that bond whereas with my daughter they wont.

Hi Laura, i can sympathise with you there coz my sister had a baby girl last year, she is 14 months old now and im am sooo close to her :(
Its going to be hard to say goodbye to her, especially missing her growing up, im also worried she wont know me when i visit, we both have webcams though with microphones so im going to make sure she knows her Auntie Mandi on the tv screen atleast :rofl:
I know from last time that the kids loved talking with my mum and dad on the webcams and when i spoke to them it felt like they were in the next street rather than a different country ;)

I know it will be hard, but who knows, we will prob move out there and end up sponsoring my family to come over :lol:

I know my mum is already planning on coming out for 6 weeks when we're settled, it has finally sank in with her that we are moving and I can see it's affecting her, she's normally not an emotional person, but she's become so much more affectionate and excited to see or hear from us, she is having my son for the half term week and she's already bought loads of activities, my sil is planning a halloween party and my mum has bought him an outfit.

It's nice to see her like this but it's also breaking my heart as I know we will have to say goodbye soon and I don't think I'm strong enough to cope with my mum crying :(

My mums the opposite, shes pretending its not happening and wont talk to me about it, she always does this till the last minute bless her, but then again, it is the 3rd time ive left :p;)
Im having a mare finding rentals!!! Daz decided not to take furniture so im looking at furnished ones for 6 months, there like gold dust or you need gold to pay for them :rofl:

We had hassle with OH family, but now we are here im not stressing on it, in the uk it really hurt when they wouldnt listen, but the kids do miss them, but they have such a fab life now and settled at school.

Have you tried a few of the expats that are renting?? ask who they used?
i know rachel is renting, she may know someone around calgary that has something, i have her email if you need it :confused:

Well i hope you get it and your a smiler coz theres some miserable staff in there lol!!
Ive tried every website going, plenty unfurnished, but not many furnished,and im so fussy its gonna be hard :blink:
I think i,ll leave it till we arrive and maybes look at buying some furniture, either new or second hand.
I had a great one but she rented it out whilst i was thinking about it :sneaky:

Sorry to gatecrash, but what discounts do you get at walmart and whats the hourly rate? I currently work for Asda and when we get over to Vancouver I'm thinking about applying for a job with walmart, just hope my experience with asda with go for me.

There is so much to do, we had started to get party and container etc ready to book, so now it's all pre book and on back burner. It's so frustrating that we not going yet, bum, poo!!!!!!!!!

You just taking boxes then. Where you thinking of living, you going to rent?
