Great question that I frequently ask myself- we buy coffee for our staff once in a blue moon and they come up with all sorts of revolting concoctions, most of which will rot teeth at a hundred paces.

North America never seems happy with flavour. Neither natural not traditional concoctions. It always has to be enhanced or built upon. Coffee, ice cream, everything seems to need something extra.

Because it is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord, and people who drink such disgusting concoctions have been possessed by Beelzebub himself? Seems about as rational a reason as any other why people would want to put that crap in a perfectly good cup of coffee...

Re: Flavoured Coffee

A cup of French vanilla double hazelnut frappe with maple cream and strawberry sprinkles please?

I think not.

Re: Flavoured Coffee

Plain black coffee for me, no milk, no cream, no 50/50, no sugar, no sweetenere. Just plain, black.

Flavoured coffee is an abomination, I agree.

Re: Flavoured Coffee

Topical. Just bought two jars of flavoured coffee, French Vanilla and Chocolate Caramel. I find it makes a nice change from tea or coffee, and can be a substitute from having a piece of chocolate or cookie. Very rarely order a flavoured coffee in a shop, but not immune to it.

Re: Flavoured Coffee

I thought Bats' original comment summed it up very well. Then Oakvillian topped it. Not with sprinkles.

Siouxie reminded me of

MP: Aye. In them days, we'd a' been glad to have the price of a cup o' tea.

GC: A cup ' COLD tea.

EI: Without milk or sugar.

TG: OR tea!
My stepson makes an abomination sometimes. When poured it smells horrible. I tell him I have to get my hazmat suit on.

Occasionally he leaves his pod in the Keurig for me to find - I use it as a supplemental to my coffee pot - and I have sometimes made myself a cup of instant, just using it for the hot water, and nearly being poisoned.

Bleurgh!

+1 and I think Instant Coffee is an abomination.

Re: Flavoured Coffee

In the US I was asked if I was sure that I wanted milk in my coffee not cream!!

I cant understand the flavoured coffee thing at all. It seems that they want a hot drink with caffeine that just tastes of sickly sweetness. I would think that once you have had a few its probably addictive!! To think we are told that Heroin is bad for you!!

There are several instant coffees in the UK that are pretty good.

Not so much in Canada.

I know that must hurt.

Re: Flavoured Coffee

How about those who get a flavoured coffee say at 7 - 11 and then put in some more flavour by adding that stuff from the bottles or plastic dispensers.

Re: Flavoured Coffee

On a road trip if I get coffee at 7-11 I'll put about 4 French Vanilla or Hazelnut into an xxl, I'm after the caffine, not the coffee necessarily.

Just ordinary coffee with the sweet creamers, I don't drink them any other time, usually 1 sugar and half and half.

Flavoured teas are generally just organic ingredients with the leaves/plants providing the flavours, not the addition of sugary/syrupy artificial ingredients.

Not too worried about tasteless beer I just don't want it tasting of pine cones or quinoa and goji berries or whatever a creatively bankrupt hipster comes up with next.

Have you had those chocolate goji berries from Bulk Barn?

They're nice enough but they are not berries. They're gums.

I wouldn't eat that stuff, it sounds like something a pixie would eat and I don't even know what a Bulk Barn is. Although Canadians seem to name all their shops 'Something Barn' or 'Barn Something'. In fact I'm sat at home getting more and more naffed off waiting for the arrival some awful hipster furniture that HID has ordered while she's buggered off to a conference in Victoria. Its a lovely sunny afternoon and I should be on the dock challenging my liver to a game of spiritual roulette. :frown:

I thought it a little odd that you weren't out riding the waves, upping the fish/shellfish and downing the ale..

I was here today at lunch

https://untappd.com/v/cheshire-cat/25637

with all these great beers to try out and a table of rather loud cradles all ordered Corona (with lime in it) from the fridge of shame that the pub has but can only be seen by staff.

It's quite sad isn't it? I amended my post before which made no sense... No they don't hate tasteless beer at all, they love it:thumbdown:

That very sweet Indian style chai tea is nice from time to time. Otherwise it's English Breakfast, Earl Grey and occasionally Lapsang.

NFN then...... "Normal for Norfolk" then:lol:

Written in paediatric medical charts in Norfolk in days gone by to signify that whilst the child was odd looking, this was acceptable as it was Norfolk and interbreeding can cause "problems"

Another one was FLK... Funny looking kid

I went there last Easter. (S-i-L lives in Stittsville). It was a mucn anticipated visit as they generally have a cask ale on. It was some godawful berry flavoured brown ale, which was ****** disgusting. Corona would have been an improvement.

Ha, Ceaser and his mate have just dropped off the furniture, not as bad as I'd imagined. I'm now off to buy some beer flavoured beer.

Sorry...a bit of a thread shift...but...who decided to put all this fruit juice stuff with beer? I'm not a beer drinker...but grapefruit with beer

The only thing I note from flavored coffee drinkers is that they are all fat. They just don't seem to see that guzzling down these buckets of sweet shit is having any effect whatsoever...they will even qualify it with..."I eat so little" statements....I have become much more intolerant since moving to Canada...
