Flag Etiquette in Canada

Re: Flag Etiquette in Canada
I remember during the World Cup refusing to let a guy in on the 401 because he was stupid enough to brandish a Portuguese flag in the back of his car. Then there was the German I managed to successfully block off and give the bird.......
People should have these distinguishable emblems so we know how to treat them ahead of time.

Much luck ever. Recently would be fair enough, seeing as how I dont have any flags up at present.

When I was in Finland they had a tradition of garden flagpoles & instead of the full flag would fly a banner in national colours (Swedes had yellow & blue inc. the Swedish Finns & Finnish had white & blue). It was quite nice really to be somewhere where it was an indicator of nothing much more than being in (esp. the weekend country cottages). It did not seem to help or hinder any prejudice between Finns / Swedes, though I wasn't particulary looking for it.

Then to answer your question, I am not aware of it having the same connotations in Canada. You may now have your gardener create Your ornamental grasses garden without the neighbours eyeing up you or your lady for threesomes or more.

We have a flag in the backyard so that we know which way the wind is blowing. We are a little obsessed by the weather.
