Filmon cancelled !!!

I have been kept sane living here (BC/Canada) by my ability to watch UK TV on the Filmon app. They have just changed their geographical restriction rules and UK channels will now only been shown in Europe !!! Without getting too technical, how can I get my UK TV back ? I have an apple TV box if that helps.

That's a bugger. I watched the footie on ITV via FilmOn just the other day.

I wondered how long it would be though.

There are plenty of download for later options - especially useful with your time difference but other solutions will come flooding in.

Was it not legal, then ? They took my money for recording time every month !

Re: Filmon cancelled !!!

That's strange - I was watching FilmOn last night (well, the wee hours of this morning) and just tested it by putting BBC new on, it's working fine for me on my laptop. However, Camposit.tv has gone offline (I heard they changed servers, so if anyone knows what the new one is please let us know!).

http://www.filmon.tv/tv/bbc-news

Edited to add - all the ITV channels and the other BBC channels have disappeared :( DAMN!!

:)

It's just happened in the last 2 hours. I set my account to record my usuals 3 hours ago, then, went on to watch the ITV news live but all terrestrial channels gone ! (apart from BBC news - which would be the one that's available worldwide presumably). Spoke to someone at Filmon and he said 'it's not good news i'm afraid...' aaaahhhhhhh

Back when the Olympics was on I noticed that BBC wasn't accessible through FilmOn. So something must have been allowing it to be blocked, most likely something within the Olympics organisation.

With BBC making efforts to link overseas access to a TV Licence linked account it seemed likely that steps would be taken to block FilmOn from providing it. That or FilmOn want to introduce a subscription service. It happened that way with them a few years ago. They hooked us in and then introduced charging.

It's always hard to believe these things are 100% legal, but regardless, there are always steps making it more difficult, not to mention the concern that a 'service provider' won't disappear if you paid an annual subscription.

No doubt something new will crop up or you'll find FilmOn has found a way around it.

You know you'd have a go on Carol Vorderman if the opportunity arose. You'd have to.

also found the link below & watched it from 4:20 - 4:25 EST

Bit fiddly on my slow DL, but once I cleared the commercials it was good. In fact it exactly like Kodi.... go figure

FreeTvAll.com - Watch Free All Live Tv Channels Online Anywhere - Videos (Powered by FreeTvAll)

There is always a way around it even without a chrome, Kodi or whatever, DNS or VPN

On a google search I know that there are a few other streaming sites which I posted some weeks ago

Keep calm & carry on ;)

Shakes & withdrawal symptoms over, feet up, a sherry & a pack of quaver crisps or whatever snack.

Imagine what it was like for me 49 years ago, new to Canada when I couldn't receive BBC world service on a 'shortwave' radio;) depressed I was

A phone call home back to the UK at $1/minute (maybe more) going through an overseas operator in Montreal... no direct dialing

Back then 5 TV channels was it - two Canadian & three US stations

Take me back to the 'good old days' :amen:

Well wouldn't you know it.

As a result of the original post I tried it and all the mainstream Brit channels were missing apart from BBC News and I posted my 'bugger' comment.

I just tried it and they're all back again.

Yeah but knowing the CBC they will cancel it as its written by Chris Haddock and they cancelled Season 3 of Intelligence.
The Shoot The Messenger on CBC isn't too bad as well.

You make it sound like they have something against Chris Haddock. Having used him for Da Vinci's Inquest, then the sequel Da Vinci's City Hall, then Intelligence and now The Romeo Section, that seems a tad unlikely.

From wiki

There's a theory afloat that CBC Television cancelled the unusually good drama Intelligence in fear of upsetting Canada's New Government, which is thought to be slavering for an excuse to junk the nation's public broadcaster and sell off the parts.
CBC scrapped The Border for no apparent reason...unless that was government related too.

Yes. As you were soldiers. It was obviously a slow day at the office so Harold at FilmOn decided to have a bit of a laugh.

You are correct, Former Lancastrian, we should indeed be supporting Canadian (cough) Tele (cough) - the occasional B movie has a pretty landscape...

Filmon here looks like it did when the OP started the thread. There but the main stuff missing. It'll probably come back :fingerscrossed: and disappear again...

Watchallchannels, same error message but freetvall looks okay.

Still mostly working for me. I have given up on accessing non-Canadian Netflix, but everything else works fine - iPlayer, the US TV stations for streaming new episodes, C4, ITV, all fine.

Filmon still working for me as well, just tested it.

From their support page:

Changes in providing UK channels outside Europe
Posted by Liliya Kutovaya on 24 November 2016 08:16 PM
Dear Customers,

We have been requested today to change our geographical restriction rules. The UK channels will only be available in Europe from now on. Unfortunately, this means that UK channels won't be viewable outside of Europe with a subscription either.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
