Fergie Retires
Well end of an era. Not that I have ever been a Man U fan, but no-one could question the dedication this man has put into football.
When Charlton were in the Premiership (those were the days), I use to hate extra time and the "Ferguson minute". That aside though he will be missed. Alex Ferguson on behalf of Football (Soccer) I salute you ! Moyes favourite to take over. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...etires-1875169 |

Re: Fergie Retires
Im sure he will go down in history as one of the greats.
I doubt there will ever be another manager who will stay at any club that long. So let the madness and speculation begin on who will replace him. From a band wagon, glory hunting plastic Manc I thank you Sir Alex. |
Re: Fergie Retires
I suppose it is un-British of me to have seen the thread header and thought of pee.

Yawn yawn and double yawn. Why the BBC New webpage has this above the Queen's Speech on immigration is mystifying. Not even national news, it should be on the sports pages.

Screw up, your career's probably finished! I think Fergie's going to be another Abramovich, minus the Billions! |

Re: Fergie Retires
Gonna be someone from Europe I reckon. Unless they can find a UK based one who has been quietly absent for a while !
Charlton fansite plugs Curbs, think there is no chance, however he was a possible contender for England Boss - although, whether that was serious I never knew. I would love to see Ian Holloway there, just to give his quotes more air-time. Still makes me giggle now: "To put it in gentleman's terms if you've been out for a night and you're looking for a young lady and you pull one, some weeks they're good looking and some weeks they're not the best. Our performance today would have been not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi. She wasn't the best looking lady we ended up taking home but she was very pleasant and very nice, so thanks very much, let's have a coffee" - on the "ugly" win against Chesterfield. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZdAOyLKy90 |

Anyway, a big loss to the game when perhaps the greatest manager ever retires. Legend. |

Is this job a private sector or public service job?
Does it have a benefit package? Is it a union job? |

Screw up, your career's probably finished! I think Fergie's going to be another Abramovich, minus the Billions! Most United fans who are lucky enough to watch them regularly recognise that it's Fergie who has been the difference for the last two titles rather than the first team. How many United players would get into a combined first XI from city, Chelsea and the champions? |

Thanks for those trying to keep this on topic x

I will create a thread drift!
Where are United going to finish next year?

Trust the Daily Mail to have a negative headline
'It has been an honour and a privilege': Sir Alex Ferguson steps down after 27 years in charge of Manchester United (and club's share price falls by 4.5%) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...rs-charge.html |

Re: Fergie Retires
Rumour on twitter is that Alice the tea lady at Old Trafford has odds of 15 to 1 to get the job while Wilf the boot cleaner is 20 to 1.
Arthur who cuts the grass is not interested as he cant sit on his mower in the technical area. Betty who sells pies in the West Stand (Stretford End) would have to ensure players would not be nipping off for a quick steak and kidney at half time while she is delivering a hair drying half time talk. |

Re: Fergie Retires
I just love some of his famous quotes
ON LIVERPOOL "My greatest challenge is not what's happening at the moment, my greatest challenge was knocking Liverpool right off their f***ing perch. And you can print that." ON RAFA BENITEZ, REACTING TO THE SPANIARD'S INFAMOUS 'FACTS' PRESS CONFERENCE DURING THE 2009 TITLE RACE "I think he was an angry man. He must have been disturbed for some reason. I think you have got to cut through the venom of it and hopefully he'll reflect and understand what he said was absolutely ridiculous." ON JOSE MOURINHO "He was certainly full of it, calling me 'Boss' and 'Big Man' when we had our post-match drink after the first leg. But it would help if his greetings were accompanied by a decent glass of wine. What he gave me was paint-stripper." Full list here http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/...154040627.html |

A manager getting 5 years at a club ad winning a couple of league titles will be as good as it gets. I think the new United Manager will need to rebuild the midfield. I don't think Scholes and Giggs will stick around much longer. Be good for the game if United did fall away for a few years but at the same time I would not want to see Chelski or City dominating with their laundered money. |
Re: Fergie Retires
Lord Ferguson of Govan has a ring to it
Sir Alex Ferguson could be appointed to the House of Lords if two Manchester MPs have their Early Day Motion (EDM) read in Parliament. Labour MPs Tony Lloyd, Manchester Central, and principal sponsor of the motion Graham Stringer, Blackley and Broughton, have called for football to be more widely represented in the upper house, with Manchester United manager Ferguson the outstanding candidate for a Peerage. |
Re: Fergie Retires
Already bored with it. Get Moyes in and have done with it. Not sure what discussions with Everton need doing as he is out of contract at the end of the season anyway.
|
Re: Fergie Retires
so Moyes it is then done and dusted 6 year contract.
