Default Favourite smells

Kind of following on from bats penchant for the smell of Jeyes... What do you love the smell of?
Me, probably freshly ground coffee.... closely followed by felt tip pen

To your list, I add: fresh cut grass, petrol (4 star was better!) roses (the really stinky old-fashioned varietals) and, as a Sommelier, I should add wine!

Dettol and Germolyne!

That muscle stuff that all young rugby players seemed to coat themselves with, that brings back a misspent youth.

The utter deliciousness of a new born baby that once smelled is never forgotten, you are hooked to your baby forever.

The slightly wet umbrella smell of a man you have loved for 25 years, he brings comfort and warmth with every breath....

My damp Cairn Terrier...the fresh garden smell of my great big Cat....

A damp wet morning with the sun rising, and hope for a super day!

Smells are magic...

Millie that is beautifully evocative
Our wet dog smells of old carpet, we generally don't need umbrellas so Snoop just to put up with my general.... Umm smell
Rugby players ... Maybe it just me-sweaty, and smell of Irish stew
Babies and puppies... Yep, I would agree.

Creosote

My Mum used to get quite cross during a walk when I would sidetrack a little to snuffle a choice fence.

Bread baking. It makes me wonder if we're selling the house but, regardless, I like baking days.

Marlboro burning, the whiff of a world of pleasures forgone.

Ribs smoking, the whole barbecue thing (not the gas cooker in the garden thing but the actual barbecue thing). When Greece won Euro SomeYearOrOther we were driving in Greektown with the car open and were moving slowly in a honking jam and the smell of dozens of barbecues overwhelmed us. I felt slightly guilty that we were on the way to Little India to pick up a great smelling curry.

Horse, the smell of the car after riding. Not so much the smell of the car the next day.

Exhaust, the car's open, you're flying along, the limit ahead is 30 (50 metric), you intend to make an effort to slow to 55 or so, you come down the box, the exhaust pop pop pops, something burns in the muffler. And then you're past the slow bit and you press the peddle and the tyres spin and you smell them as well. And then you're at the office and coffee is the best smell on offer.

Hay, newly mown, the smell makes your back hurt but it's great for a moment.

Salt and vinegar, it's the smell of fish and chips eaten on the sea wall though there's no sea around here.

And perfumed sweat.

The dog's sweaty feet, horses, bleach. Always liked vanilla, but now it reminds me of a Glaswegian friend who hated it as an institutional smell from her youth. Coffee blossom. Lime zest. Roses.

And cardamom. Although without autocorrect I would have ended it with an n.
