Re: Favorite Current TV Shows

As someone without cable, my choice of current shows is somewhat limited. However, of late I have been watching re-runs of MASH on ION (free to air!). Not sure whether it is simply comfortable nostalgia but it's still a bloody good show. At the moment it's the later years, so no Radar etc. but still decent. The episode where they kill off Colonel Blake is great tv - I think they run through all the series, don't show the last one and then start again.

i am watching the new big brother on channel 5, which is a bit crap but Jedward are entertaining... and the new X Factor, which isn't the same with out Simon, but its still enjoyable, I love the audition part. I am also watching Season 2 of Criminal Minds, which is brill, North American TV maybe crap.....but they do make the odd good show, Friends, ER, CSI Modern Family etc!!

I'm surprised not many put Game of Thrones. It's the best thing on TV by a mile.

Also good:
True Blood
Fringe
The Borgias (great newcomer)
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Spartacus

Camelot started well but went downhill, so I now call it Cameltoe

If you can access BBC iPlayer there's an excellent six part drama there called THE HOUR. Unfortunately all episodes expire tomorrow, Tuesday, so if you want to see the show you should download all episodes to the BBC Desktop Player.

Or use one of the many sites like this one.

I'd never heard of the show. It took about a minute to find this site which I've not seen before, but it seems to work.

To try and familiarise myself with canadian Tv, I have really got into ' The Listener' on wednesday nights.
Also, like watching the canadian news channel, get feel of the daily news. I really liked watching the tornado and thunderstorms the other day.

Also, the coverage of the late 'great' Jack Layton's funeral.

This is a good website to watch British Tv programmes. I pay £5.00 per month and have access to most terrestrial tv prgrammes (includes bbc iplayer) in the UK.

There's another two good ones available now:-

PAGE 8 with Bill Nihy and Michael Gambon (doesn't get much better than that
and
THE FIELD OF BLOOD from a Denise Mina novel.

What about Keeping Up Appearances or Are You Being Served? They don't make programmes like they did before. I liked Only Fools and Horses, that was very funny.
