Fans of British T.V. shows
Anyone else watch some of the shows from Britain?
Last winter I got in to Spooks, really like that show. Could not get in to Survivors at first but watched it a few days ago and seemed good, so will keep watching, see how it goes. Always Corrie, East Enders I started watching last year. Then of course there is Build a New Life in the Country and so forth. Anyone else a fan of certain shows? :D |
Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
Primeval although rather formulaic was good for a while. Beautiful people (allegedly) being chased by dinosaurs, what more could one ask for? (Beautiful people being chased, caught and eaten by dinosaurs. It had that too.)
|
Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
I just watched that 'wonders of the solar system' with that brian cox guy. I enjoyed it.
|
Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
Primeval? I have not heard of that show, when was it on? Being eaten by dinosaurs? goodness gracious! LOL

Using the same CGI as "Walking with dinosaurs" but more along the line of 'being chased and eaten by dinosaurs". Corny, but watchable. They are currently filming seasons 4&5 after rescuing it from cancellation oblivion. |
Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
I just watched Paradox.
That wasn't bad. Currently halfway through series two of Ashes To Ashes as well. |
Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
I couldn't live without my Tuesday night Shameless episodes.

Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
Doctor Who (first episode of the new series was on last weekend, was very good in my opinion), TV Burp (been a long term fan of Harry since the channel 4 days) and of course Top Gear :D
I get all these on bittorrent pretty easily. TheBox.bz is great though I got banned from there for too much downloading and not enough uploading so now I have to use public ones which aren't so good. |

Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
We receive a tremendous number of brit comedies through our two pbs stations - keeping up appearances, as time goes by, waiting for god, all creatures great and small.....all the old timeless ones, and some new ones i.e., doc martin....
My favourites are (in no particular order) yes prime minister, all creatures great and small, doc martin etc.... |
Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
I enjoyed reading all the input on the Brit. tv shows everyone sent. I cannot get the IPlayer Access and will keep the way of getting it by paying mthly. in mind. Am like Mr Lee, get British shows on PBS, am watching Doc Martin right now. All creatures and Lark Rise I get also, have seen them before but I dont care, I love the shows. My one show I don't like to miss is Spooks, I get my fix on that tonight! Oh, So many shows, so little time! :)

Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
I am a big Eastenders fan but as they are over 2 years behind here - I had a bit of a wait to see episodes I hadn't already seen.
Always watch Graham Norton and Top Gear on BBC Canada too. I also enjoy Dr Who and Torchwood on the Space channel - roll on the new Doctor! Masterpiece classic also show some good drama such as Cranford and Little Dorrit. Looking forward to the Grand National tomorrow which is on CBC in the afternoon. |
Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
Yes ChezG, I think Coronation St. is about a year behind here. I like the Masterpiece Theatre too, they do get good shows on. There is a Canadian show I like, The Murdoch Mysterys, kind of like a Sherlock Holmes but in Toronto.

Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
That Benny Hill is very funny. Some people like Monty Python but again it's got that very dry British humor. And then there's that Mrs. Bucket show, that has to be the best thing on tv, although I have a hard time understanding the fat redneck man.

Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
Anyone watched 'Married, single, Other' the series just finished last week.
Has Ralf Little (Royale Family), Lucy Davis (the Office) and Dean Lennox-Kelly (Shameless) i really enjoyed it!!! I probably watch more UK tv now since i moved to Canada thanks to Torrent sites. Could live without Match of the Day on a Saturday night! |

Yes it is funny but it is a comedy drama so serious as well... dont want to say too much in case you watch it.

I try and watch MOTD on Saturday night as well (but mostly don't get to see it 'til Sunday) Not quite the same as watching it at home with beers and a takeaway curry though is it? I'm usually bent over my PC screen although now I've started sticking the avi files onto a CD or DVD (or even a memory stick) and watching them on the TV |

Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
Someone in the canteen has just been telling me about a comedy prog called Mrs Brown which she watches on YouTube. Apparently it's British and funny. Is this true?

Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
I enjoyed "Being Human," (torrent) on UKnova.
I'll give that :thumbsup: But the local library has lots of DVD collections of British shows - from Frost, Morse, Hornblower, Foyles War, through to I Claudius. |
Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
I used to like Robin's Nest when I was a kid. Its a shame they don't situation comedies like that anymore. Pure gold.
|
Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
There are many excellent dramas and comedies from BBC but what I enjoy most are the documentary programmes that, by virtue of their content, will have limited audiences. Beeb explores subjects that commercial TV will not because the return on investment would be negative.

You must surely be a fan of such side-splitters as "Love Thy Neighbour", "Mind Your Language" and "Terry & June"? |

Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
Just watched Lizzie and Sarah. Recent Julia Davis one off pilot. Funny and strange but rather good.

Re: Fans of British T.V. shows
Love love love Spooks but am currently watching series 3 of Ashes to Ashes all courtesy of Vuze.com. Also download MOTD for the hubby.
Also enjoyed Come Dine with Me and Britain from the Air. |
