Surely she's as famous as JD Roberts or Tommy Douglas, people who are famous as Canadians are few and far between .. Pierre Trudeau, Celine Dion, that guy who whined "The needle and the damage done", most everyone else is famous and incidentally Canadian.

MacLeod was the boss; he hired Banting. Charlie Best was a medical student working in the lab for the summer. MacLeod was away on vacation when the critical experiments were performed. The fact that MacLeod and not Best shared the Nobel prize remains controversial.
