i agree, i did say during the interview this was far from ground breaking, but you would be surprised how it simply does not generally happen here. i tried to do this last year and it did not happen, not generally the thing to do here you see, hence the coverage. its not the idea, its the implementation.
If I wasn't in my late thirties and chubby, i'd consider some kind of police work. Do they have community police (unpaid volunteers, i think) there as they do in the uk? I am always stepping in to situations being a good citizen.

They are clearly lucky to have your experience, as it sounds like they have a lot to learn; hopefully this initiative will put a lid on rising crime in that area, while it is not too late.
