Default Fall River - to do or not to do list

We move into our house in Fall River, NS next week which I'm really looking forward to. I'm hoping some of the many Fall River residents on this forum can offer some insight into things to do, places to eat, trails to walk/cycle etc etc (both summer and winter) locally that we should try and that we should avoid. We have been living out on the south shore since arriving so not too familiar with the Fall River area as yet.

Hi Currently house hunting in Fall river myself.I have been told by a local to watch out for certain areas because some roads have problems with their wells running dry or low.I good question to ask the Realtor, who will check with the owner. They have to disclose any problems.
Good luck!

I recommend eating at Oliver's (the bar in Inn on the Lake). The Chinese on Fall River Road is good too.

Try heading north on Highway 2 past Wellington and you will find Laurie Park and Oakfield park (about 10 minutes out). Further afield is Shubenacadie Wildlife Park which is nice too.

I think some of the problems with water quantity are on the Schwartwald subdivision. Although as far as I have been told it can very much vary from property to property. I think Fall River has a lot of properties of municipal water also.

We are coming over to 'land' as permanent residents and have a look at Fall River in February-. How did you find the house market or rental market there? Were selllers / renters willing to negotiate? Hubby has a job offer starting in May so we are remaining hopeful about selling our own house here so looking at both sides of buying and renting. We will be on the lookout for both property and schools. Any helpful hints would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
We are a family of 5 moving over to Halifax in July 09. Have been looking at Fall river,Beaver bank and Sackville with reference to houses and schools. Can anyone advise on the pro's and cons of these areas? Will be working at Halifax airport. The kids schooling is a major issue for us, they are all elementary age. Anyone got any experiences or knowledge of the best schools in these areas? Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.
