Default Everyone got the edge of their chairs ready?

It's the Ryder Cup this weekend, starting Friday. Compulsive viewing even for non golf fans.

Saturday/Sunday coverage is on NBC.

Why is it compulsive viewing? If I want to see plaid in action, I can go to Walmart.

It's cheaper (and Walmart sells Marmite, so it's worth the trip).

I think it'd be more fun to watch Falling Down again; it's got men who golf in it.

It would appear some folk are a bit out of touch.
Plaid? In the Ryder Cup?

Where have you been for the last couple of decades?

There might be the odd vaguely checky thing but you're far more likely to get this

For nearly the last two decades, I've been in Canada, where people "golf".

I did "golf" as a teenager but I grew out of it. As I recall, my bag was somewhat tartan in nature.

The only thing in living memory that wasn't boring about golf was Tiger Woods' wife beating shit out of his car with a golf club.

The top picture features the kind of ghastly patterned shirts men favour when playing golf. I suppose it's some sort of corporate sponsors colour; Monsanto perhaps?

I'm not a golfer, Ryder Cup is another matter- it mainly isn't the golf but the rivalry and bad sportsmanship between the US and Europe. The golf and comebacks also add to the interest

That's all I have to add to this conversation. Sorry (not sorry).
The only thing I know about golf is Arnold Palmer (R.I.P) and Tiger Woods (R.I.P his career).

I'm pondering the concept of golf and excitement....No, don't see it myself. I will continue to be supremely indifferent most sport.

Golf, surely, is only a "sport" by the wildest stretch. Finding golf to be a destructive pastime conducted by badly dressed drivers of dreadful cars none of whom have the least hand/eye coordination, doesn't suggest a failure to appreciate the pace and drama of, say, a hop skip and jump competition.

It is,at best, a good long walk (healthy), interspersed with hide & seek (intellectual stimulation).

When I golfed, I had a cracking drive. It could go a long way. Sadly not in a straight line.

Those shirts look a bit Chanel to me.
