Election result

Anyone fancy giving their opinion on what will happen today?

FWIW, I believe Canada will end up with the Liberals almost obtaining a majority but falling just short.

Unfortuantly i agree, thats my prediction too. I suppose the consolation is the minority part.

Is there a running prediction with a swingometer somewhere?

the CBC has a poll tracker, but the rules for exit polls and so on are a bit more complicated here because of all the different time zones. Although I did hear Elections Canada have bowed to the inevitable and we no longer have to wait until polls close in BC to hear about results in the East - I guess nobody is prepared to prosecute every single Twitter user who tweets a local result, so news organizations have been given permission to report results as they come in.

I think the Liberals will be around two dozen short of a majority, but will have the most seats. Harper will not concede until tomorrow, when it becomes abundantly clear he will not be able to command the confidence of the House, and Trudeau will be invited by the GOvernor General to form a minority government.

I've been and cast my vote.

The process was the disorganised gong show one comes to expect when in Canada. In total it took me 50 minutes.

I'm forecasting a Liberal majority.

The polls on the weekend had them a little short but I sense the ground swell at a street level.

It must be just you. Mrs JonboyE and myself in and out, all done, in less than 2 minutes.

Prediction: Liberals and Conservatives roughly tied.

Will, as everyone knows, I have my finger firmly on the pulse of the canadian electorate.

The NDP has no chance, nobody votes for people with beards. So it's between harper and that trudeaeaux guy. Harper's been around too long and people are a bit sick of his pervert uncle like appearance - so I predict a small liberal majority.

I'll wait until the US presidential election in 2016, it'll more have effect on Canada than this will. IMO, they should just do away with the federal government and simply have the provinces take care of the day-to-day issues and and leave major foreign policies to the US.

So long as none of them get enough seats to push anything controversial through, I'll be happy.

I don't think it's the beard- loads of Canadians in polite places seem to wear them. I think its the conservative attack ads may have united everyone behind Trudeau.

After Harper this can only improve Canada's international standing. Not invading anywhere would be a great start.

When I went they put a line thru my sons name instead of me, huh, I did advise the lady of the duck up, and I wore my woollen hat, was hoping they ask me to take it off, but no one did, very disappointed

Yes indeed, take a leaf out of Britain's playbook.

What constitutes as controversial in Canada? A 2% tax on truck tyres? ;)

Not sure if that's a concern anywhere outside Canada. I think it was and probably still is, ambivilence rather than some sort of romantic vision of liberalism and neutrality.

So, Trump or Biden?
