In our run up to leaving the UK, we have been undertaking the inevitable task of sorting through our possessions on a "keep/throw/sell/give away" basis.
This has included sorting through my wife's childhood toy collection that had been in storage in her parent's attic for the last 15-20 years. We very nearly threw most of it in the bin, but decided to chance our arm with eBay and have made over £600 selling a variety of old toys from the 80's (Sindy, My Little Pony, Flower Fairies, She-Ra, etc). We were gobsmacked!
What else have people sold on eBay that has raised completely unexpected sums of money?

Most of the other stuff I put up there made so little money that it really wasn't worth bothering with.

i sold all my old worn replica football shirts that had been sitting in a draw since i was 14 years old so i had every away and home shirt for nearly 15 years.
i was amazed when they were sold to buyers all over the world for lots of cash. you kinda forget how rare a 1983 premier league / 1st div shirt is these days.
but we sold so much stuff at car boots and ebay that we raised a decent amount of cash.

My husband's old subuteo (is that how you spell it), was the Munich stadium version (yep me none the wiser either) and it fetched 800 quid on a geek forum. And we were going to send to the charity shop!

Some months after I emigrated I received a letter that started, "Dear Shit" and went on to draw my attention the three MGBs I'd left on top of each other in a rented lock up garage. The lease on the garage had expired and the owner had contacted my former cohabitee to forcefully suggest removal of the cars. Being a resourceful sort, she'd advertised the cars for parts and people had come from all over the country to collect the better parts; the chrome grills, the continental hubs, the overdrives. The letter mentioned the total received, I don't remember how much now but a startling figure, and concluded by saying that I'd be seeing none of it. It closed, ironically I assume, "love,".

I have no idea why exes like to rub peoples nose in it. Sell the stuff, take solace in the fact and move on.

...I have literally an hour ago agreed the sale of our 1969 VW Karmann Ghia that has been sat in a lock up for the last two years...never thought of advertising that for parts, but to be honest most of them are missing anyway!
