so what is best for hardwood floors? I really want a henry and so bought a shop vac which all my canadian friends thought hilarious! Apparently they are for workshops? Must admit it doesn't have a long lead and is heavy. Gone back to swifters but they are like trying to wipe the floor with a wet tissue and a toothpick!
So looking for recomendations too!

My son and his wife have two fluffy cats and although they mostly have hardwood, they have a rug in the dining room that was always totally covered in cat hair. He bought a Miele. He said they originally went to get a Dyson, but the guy at the store told them that the filters are really expensive and need changing often. I didn't discuss all the pros and cons with him and I know the Miele was expensive. He said it does a really good job of cleaning the carpet.

A Dyson Animal of course, everytime. Had to sell my when we left the UK so convinced OH that he should cash in his aeroplan airmiles as he was dangerously close to having enough to buy me a one way ticket back to blightey!! So he ordered it online and it was delivered to the door 1 week later. We have two kittens and its so up to the job with the attachments for furniture etc. Central Vac crap and unhygenic so if you have airmiles use them. What with car dealerships going under and airlines I was convinced it was only a matter of time before the airmiles lot went to and he had that many it would have been so annoying to lose them all. :thumbsup:

Dysons have washable filters. You just clean them every 6 months!

sorry to go off topic, but this is the only thread i have ever read where the girls moan about having to wrestle with a 'hose' thats too big, like a python, no use you coming to rae 'the snake charmers' house then

We have just bought a Dyson Animal...
After doing research and saving up for almost a year.. Its brilliant, once you get the hang of it... I was pushing back & forth like you do.. :o But no, you have to just go forward, then you figure out, its a twist of the wrist, and away you go. :thumbup:

I do find it a bit awkward to change the attatchments, but with a bit of practice it should be easier.

We ordered it through our local Home Hardware store. April 16th & at the time, Dyson were offering a free Spring Cleaning kit. worth $130 while suplies "lasted" The Dyson arrived last wednesday... No free kit... So Thursday, I called Dyson. told them when I ordered, how long we had waited for vac to arrive etc..

Talked to a lovely guy David.. He said. The free kit would be shipped right away, & would be here 5-7 days..

I picked up my new Dyson Animal this afternoon from Future Shop. Came with free Spring cleaning Kit which is a box of additional attachments.

I have been scooting around the house like a woman possessed. My nooks and crannies are now fluff-free :rofl: :wub:

I think you are just jealous that talk of Dysons gets us ladies going while block heaters just don't do it for us at all :rofl:

busted. have you seen the length of some of the leads on the block heaters though. could change your mind.

The guy was full of it.

As another poster said, you just need to wash the filter. It shouldn't need changing.

I now have NEw Dyson Envy. I really want the Dyson Ball, I have the original back & forth kind.

My Dyson Animal ball had 2 filters (1 HEPA inside the ball, and the other is on top of the collecting tank). Both should be rinsed in cold water and dried before using.
